I am looking for an indoor playground. Not the Chuck E Cheese type with crawl tunnels and game-rides. Those things are okay, but my girls love to swing, and slide, and walk along the wobbly bridge - the kind of stuff you find on the standard outdoor playgrounds. Thanks in advance for your replies.

I found the products on http://www.fingofun.com to be great indoor playsets for my children. They offer indoor playsets with attached slides and very easy to assemble. Hope this helps!
There's Bouncetown in Oswego which has a bunch of the blowup moonjumps and slides. I know that some of the park districts also offer open gym times. And there's also Odyssey Fun World in Naperville. Hope this helps ~ I know how hard it can be trying to find things for the little ones to do in the winter time! :-)

Also, there are some Children's Museums if you don't mind the drive. There is one in Naperville and one in Glenview.
Other than that, there isn't much around here that I know of. I wish there was more, but there isn't yet. Have you tried maybe taking them for swim lessons or join a gym that has an indoor pool? Lifetime Fitness has a daycare center that has a slide and basketball court, etc. for the kids if you want to go that route. You can work out while they play- if that is your thing.
Well, this isn't a romper idea, but if you aren't too far from Schaumburg library, they have a treehouse themed children's area, where the kids can go and read or do puzzles, etc.
I think your best bet might be to check out your local gymnastics for open gym times. Ours has an air track they can bounce down, swinging rings, obstacle courses, long trampoline into a foam square pit.
We also just heard of Pump it Up. I guess it's full of those bouncy things (like at the fun days or pumpkin farm) and I guess there are drop in times and party times.
If you're really up for a drive for a special day there is some sports dome near evanston that I thought was geared towards kids.
.... Rockford Children's museum has great reviews, Chicago Children's museum has curious george exhibit now...

The Menards right by us has their playground "display" that the kids can play on still set up. I'm hoping they do throughout the winter as my kids LOVE to go over and play on their playground. The patio furniture is in the area now too, but plenty of room still for the kids to play on the swingset and stuff. It's in the indoor/outdoor area, so enclosed when the doors are shut as they are throughout winter and open with an overhang on summer days. I should add too, mall play areas we use in winter too though they don't have the swings, but they are able to climb, jump around and use some of that cabin fever energy. And we use McDonald's for the playland though those aren't the specific things you are looking for, but thought I'd add it for more variety.

The Park district of LaGrange Park has a really nice indoor playground with slides and climbers. I think it costs about $5 per kid for a day pass, 2 and under are free.

The Elk Grove Park District has Jumps n jiggles, they have an indoor carousel, tunnel slides, bridges, giant building blocks. It is only $3 per child and everything is unlimited. My 3 year old has been going there since she was a baby. They also have a small and very clean ball pit. I am not big on ball pits, but you can actually see the bottom in this one and I know that it is clean. Another place is Go Bananas (they have a website) it is kinda like chuck e cheese BUT it has a roller coaster, bowling alley and lots of fun things to do.

http://www.parentswhocare.org - Parents Who Care is in your area, and has two Open Gym events each week (I think it's Monday Mornings and Wednesday afternoons). The group is generally for kids age 0-5 and is based in the Hoffman Estates/Schaumburg/Elk Grove Village areas. They also post other events in their newsletter.
