I know that most people don't want to hear this, especially moms, but the statement "they go when they are ready" is a crock. They go when you tell them to, and the longer you wait, the harder it is. My first son is 8 years old, and he was potty trained 2 weeks before his second birthday. He only wet the bed 5 times while he was training. I didn't use pull ups, or a potty chair or anything. My second son will be 7 in february. He was one of the youngest children ever in Michigan to be diagnosed with severe ADHD. I started potty training him 2 weeks before his second birthday. It took me a little longer than it did for my first son, but he was potty trained within a month, and had occasional accidents due to the ADHD, but generally had no problems. I just told them that this was how it was going to be. I bought them underwear, took them to the toilet and sat them on it to get use to it, and then started telling them to go potty, and they learned very quickly. Your child cannot start school if he isn't potty trained. I know it sounds mean, but all 5 of my mothers children were potty trained by the time we were 2. My youngest sister has a son that will be 3 in february, and he won't even pee on the toilet yet. You can't wait for them to decide, you decide. Good Luck.
