This may or not be an unusual request in that I'm not a "mom". My question is this: She is recuperating from Liver Transplant Surgery and I feel that God has blessed us with a new birthday for her. Having said that I want to surprise her, when she is discharged from the hospital, by redecorating our entire apartment from new dishes to furniture. I recently purchased a new Loveseat and Recliner that were, both, floor models and each has a small stain of unknown origin. I don't want to experiment with different stain removers as some of them may even cause a worse stain then the original. Any help or advice I receive from the wonderful mothers that subscribe to this forum will be greatly appreciated by both.
I've got two ideas for you:
1)Spot Shot carpet cleaner can work as a spot remover on fabric.
2)Before trying product on the trouble area, test it first in the back or less conspicuous spot. This is to prevent unsightly blemishes on the area you're trying to fix.

My goodness, it sounds like you have your hands full. How thoughtful of you to come up with that idea! On to your question, I just had my furniture cleaned by Stanly Steemer and they got out stains that I have scrubbed, blotted, patted and soaked. If you have a local steam cleaner, I would just call them. They are experts at stains!
I use Folex on any stains I get on the carpet and my furniture (including my white upholstered chairs) It's been great for getting stains out! You might want to try it first before spending the money to go pro.
sometimes just a small amount of laundry soap and water, but I would try just water. We got a microfiber couch for this reason. only need water to remove even a ink pen mark!
Call a professional furniture cleaner that guarantees their work. Trying to do it yourself could make it worse. Good luck and I hope you wife has a great recovery.
Try Windex. I know it sounds weird, but my daughter spilled nail polish on my friend's white carpet and when we Googled it, it said to try Windex. We did and it worked so she tried it on a few other stains (all different causes) and it worked on all of them. Good luck!
I'm guessing the furniture is cloth. I've tried a lot of things for furniture and carpet...baking soda, oxy clean, various cleaners in a can, etc and haven't had much luck. What has worked wonders for me (don't laugh) are Huggies baby wipes, they work wonders for me on those little spots. You should try it. You can buy very small pkgs of wipes and not have to buy a huge amount if you want to try it.

Start with wetting down the stain with warm water. Sprinkle baking soda over it very liberally and let dry. Hopefully the stain will lift out on to the baking soda and you can just vacuum it off. That is the safest way to do it without making a bigger stain. I would also try hand dishwashing liquid and water and gently rub it in so as not to spread the stain and blot. Try not to rub to much as it may just imbed the stain deeper. Try the soap first and if that doesn't do it, then try the baking soda. Those are the two safest ways to take out stains. Unfortuantely once it dries it may become permenant and you may have to get a professional cleaner. Otherwise you can contact the manufacturer of the company for instructions.

Ruben, kuddos to you and my prayers with you both that all is well. I agree with the others to hire a professional. I had a stain, on my pale blue carpet, that was dark blue from finger paint...compliments of my youngest daughter 2 weeks before we moved...I tried the carpet cleaner and ended up with hot pink carpet, right in the door way of her bedroom...not a fun thing!! I called a carpet cleaner and for only 20 dollars more he took the entire stain out!! I was so relieved! I hope this helps and tell her welcome home from us!!
what a wonderful hubby you are your wife is very blessed to have you, any of the over the counter stuff works but the best is any with oxy clean added it enhances a cleaner, i will be praying for you both and your wife's quick recovery of your best friend.
God bless you and your wife! I'd try a bar soap called Phels Naptha. That can get just about anything out without doing any damage. Most drug stores should carry it, I think. I pray for a speedy and full recovery for your precious wife.

Folex has been a carpet and upholstery miracle worker for many years. You can read reviews on www.amazon.com. It is sold in walmart and some grocery stores, maybe even Lowes, with the household cleaners (not carpet cleaners). Then you can continue to use the bottle around the house as needed. Water has a tendency to set stains, so you may not want to try that.
Motsenbocker makes several formulas for different stains (ink, paint, oil based, etc). It can be found in hardware stores (sometimes), often in the paint section. But then you need an idea of what the stain is made of. www.liftoffinc.com

There is a product out called Folex which is actually a carpet cleaner, but it gets out a lot of stains. I would always no matter what test a small spot before using in a hidden place just to make sure. This is found at Walmart on the bottom shelf in a very plain bottle, but it has worked a lot for me on amlost everyting.
When we moved here, I had the carpets and upholstery cleaned by a steam-cleaning company, and the guy who did it told me to use water to get up any stains. It depends on what the stain is, but I've found that cold water tends to work best. I put some in a spray bottle and spray and blot with a clean, white towel until it comes up. The reason I use white is so I can see the progress I'm making. (I have a 4-year-old son, so we do this often.) It doesn't work with everything, though.
