Hi C.. I would love to be your friend. I don't really have too many friends, so I am always looking for new ones. I do go to this New Mothers Support group at West Houston Medical center, and it helps a bunch. Gives me something to look forward to on Wednesdays. (Plus its free) They have three different groups that meet according to the age of your child. There are some really nice people there, plus it give you a chance to get out of the house. Let me know if you want more info, or if you want to meet up sometimes for lunch or something.

I belong to a group called MOPS (mothers of preschoolers) we meet every 2nd weds. of the month from 10am - 12pm and 1 x a month in the evenings for coffee & conversation. It is at Atascocita United Methodist Church in Humble. If you might be interested contact Tracy ____@____.com of the moms in the group are in the 27-32 year age range. Good Luck!

OK you sound exactly like me. I am 27 with a 16-month old daughter and am a stay at home mom. I am realtively new to Houston so I don't have alot of friends here and I am could certainly use a little adult conversation every once in awhile. I live near Willowbrook Mall so I don't know how far that is from you, but if your interested in getting together sometime just email me.

Hi C.,

I would also recommend the MOPS group. I go to the one in the Heights, which might be a little closer for you. It meets the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of every month from 9:30 - 11:30 at Baptist Temple on the corner of Yale and 20th. You can also go to www.mops.org to find the group closest to you. The women who take care of the kids are wonderful, and you get uninterrupted time to visit with other moms.

You might also try storytime at the Montrose library. It is for kids ages 6 - 18 months, and I know several moms who go every week. It meets every Monday morning, I believe at 10:30 a.m.

I no longer stay home full-time with little ones, but just wanted to share a bit of encouragement. I've definitely been in that place a few times, feeling a bit lost. It's easy to lose your identity when you stay at home with a young one. You become "just" a mom and wife and house cleaner. It is so, so important to prioritize some things just for yourself. It will keep away depression, and help you connect with others. I would suggest joining a gym, a mom's group, or a hobby group. Most gyms have wonderful childcare options, and you can meet a lot of new friends, plus get in shape (improving your self-esteem) and stay energetic for your family. And many hobby clubs (scrapbooking, knitting, church choir, etc) are filled with other moms who can help you figure out childcare.

Another option for personal growth and connecting, is to take a class of some kind. You may be near San Jacinto Community College, or one of the branches in the Montgomery County Community College system. They have great non-credit classes (ones just for fun!) that are affordable, and also offer childcare.

Good luck and God bless!
