After having great insurance and wonderful Doctors that we absolutely love we lost our Jobs, Insurance and our cobra ran out. We luckily got accepted to Kid Care Medicaid. Now all of my previous great Dr.'s and friends Dr.s do not take Medicaid so I am looking for help in picking a Pediatrician. We'd like a female who is friendly and takes time to answer questions. I'd like someone affiliated with Children's Memorial Hospital. That part is not a big deal, but most important is that you really like her and she is great with your kids and kindly answers your concerns and questions. We live near Belmont and Western so in the city would be best. Thank you all for your help, it is very hard to start over after losing a great job and insurance I am glad this site exists to help along the way.

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Thank you sooo much for all of the responses! I ended up choosing Dr. Nava Segal as my pediatrician and Dr. James Nee as a family Dr. for my Husband and I. I greatly appreciate all of the help! It was so daunting to have to randomly pic someone! I feel so much better now and hope they both work out great for us! THANK YOU!

I really like my son's pediatrician who is affiliated with Children's, Rush and IL Masonic hospitals. Her name is Dr.Nava Segall and her office is @ 4116 N. Lincoln. I am not positive if she takes All Kids but it is worth a phone call. Her # is ###-###-####. I never feel rushed with her and don't have to wait long for an appointment. Good luck.

Thank God Illinios has a plan in place so you can access health care for your children. Call Children's Mem referral service and start there.

Uggggh - insurance issues are the worst!!!!!!

Not sure this well help, but having any Dr is better than NO Dr, so I thought I would throw it out there in case you are stuck in a pinch and really need a Dr. Also, they take KidCare.

However, I don't think she has access to Children's memorial and she is NOT a pediatrician (I didn't use a pediatrician for my daughter, we have a general practitioner) and they don't have pediatricians at their office, but I have gone to Dr Tanya Richardson with Ressurection. She is at 711 W North Ave (in the North/Clyborn/Halstead area).

Both my daugther and I have seen Dr Richardson and Dr James Nee and I like them both. They are very thorough and will answer any of my questions as well as having a good rapport with my daughter (she is older now - but we have been going there since she was 5).

Incidentally, Dr Nee diagnosed a Staph infection in ME after I had been misdiagnosed at 3 other places (2 Drs while on vacation and then the ER) so I really trust the 2 of them. I can't really speak for any of the other Dr's in their practice, I only go see one of the 2 of them.

Good Luck!
