Try the Beverly Hills Club on Southfield Road. You don't have to be a member, and the staff is great.

Hi M.. I would check out GoCityKids.com, you can look for indoor play areas in your area. There is quite a bit of info on the site and will also let you know at what age the activity is geared for. Also, I've been to several parties at Pump it Up and everyone (even adults) really enjoy that. They have a few locations, so you should check that out. Have fun planning the party!

I also had a hard time trying to plan something for my daughters second birthday.
She is now 3. We ended up going to a Petting Zoo, however the one I had found was in Taylor, MI. Just a thought. Good Luck.

Hi M.,

The next time you are out and about, pick up a copy of the Metro Parent magazine (free at area bookstores) or visit their website at www.metroparent.org. They should also have a link for children's party ideas and other great information for you!

Take Care!

Who is the party for? I can understand wanting a 1st b'day party but at 2 it's unnecessary and should be kept low key. I think your best venue would be at home where you can control the environment and food and that way you (and the other parents) can be involved with the children and have a few organized games with them.

Hi M.,

My daughter will be turning 2 in June. And we normally have our parties outside the home. I also have a 5 year old. So I would have to disagree with the one reply you had. I think parties should a ton of fun... Reason we don't have them at our home is the fact the kids end up tearing up the house. Unless of course you can keep it outside. And I've found that in the end it costs almost as much as it does to have it at home as to have it at a location. Plus you don't have all the prep to your home, all the making of the food and the clean up after. Honestlyk, we've done both and my husband agrees, have it at a location, the kids have more fun and your house remains intact :) JMHOP. We've had it at Chuck E Cheese, We've done the Pizza Place where they get a tour and get to make their own individual pizzas, I decorated aprons for each child and gave out chef hats as the goodie and then we've done Pump It Up, which is an indoor inflatable place. 1st Birthday's were at home.
Good Luck,

I just went to a birthday party at Gymboree. What a good time, but pricey - I think the b-day girl's parents paid $200. That includes up to 15 kids and the entire place is dedicated to the party.

For my son's 2nd birthday we went to Chuck E Cheese. That was a lot less. I think we spent around $80 for three families, and it included food.

I went to a place called Bobby's Bouncers in Westland for a neighbors B-day party for her three year old. She had one for her girl there the year before and the 2 year olds had a great time. It is in the warehouse district. they have 3-4 of the huge blow up slides and games that local carnivals rent. they also have fooseball, basketball games and some pay for video games. I don't know if there is one closer to Berkley (Bobby's might know)but we had a blast. For one charge they had 1 hour of bouncing fun (adults can bounce, too, and we all did), served Pizza and beverage. She brought a cake, but they served it. She didn't even have to clean her house! I'd look in the information for a place like that near you!
