Seeking Graduation Gift Ideas

I tell you what my favorite gifts were when I went away to college...
1. a tool kit- I was the hit of the dorm- no other girls had a hammer, screwdriver etc...(that's what you get when your dad is a contractor)
2. Gift cards for Pizza, meijer or Walmart
3. Gas Cards
4. Phone cards- although most kids have cell phones these days- anything to help with the bills comes very handy!!!!
5. Jewelry would be nice too, every girl like Jewelry- I would recommend that from your son to his girfriend more so than you...it's so much nicer getting it from your boyfriend!
For your niece- money is always a good idea, school is expensive and all the cash you can get helps! Maybe a gift certificate for a new outfit for that first week of school.

I think giving jewelry from your company is not a problem.

You could check with the parents and see if there's something they're saving for that they'll need in college (like a laptop) and give them a gift card towards that big purchase.

I like the idea of a hamper/laundry bag/laundry basket, some laundry detergent, dryer sheets, and a roll of quarters. Make sure she has no allergies to certain detergents or stick with free and clear products.

When our daughter graduated she loved the Visa type gift cards. She saved them up for once she got to college and needed things for her dorm room etc.. Her main goal was to purchase a top of the line laptop that she can use all through college and she did receive enough money to purchase exactly what she needed with all of her computer programs for school.

She was also given a nice digital camera (we loved this) so we all get to see her photos posted on line..

The jewelry should be fine also.

The only thing I would suggest is stay away from scrapbooks, photo albums and picture frames.. Our daughter was given so many, she still has not even used a third of them..

We do 2 different graduation presents. the first is obviously a card with money. the other one is a laundry basket (I try to do the square rather than rectangle or round) filled with the following
big jug laundry soap
big box of bounce
small bottle of bleach
spray and wash or shout which ever is on sale
laundry bag
package of hangers
roll of quarters

this is something great for them to take to college with them. each kid i gave it to loved it

For you niece, I think jewelry is a good idea, we do money in our family, but we aren't a sentimental creative family and the kids say the prefer money.

For you son's girlfriend, I think a basket of college essentials would be nice. You can do a whole bath theme with stuff from Bath and Body Works, towels, flip flops, etc. I also think, although not personal, a gas card would be nice if she had a car. Being an 1 1/2 hours from home, she may come home a lot and a gas card can offset some costs.
