Hello~

does anyone have a recommendation for a good and cheap portrait studio?
I took my baby for first pictures to the Kiddie Kandids at Babies R Us but boy, was it expensive! At least I thought it was but I haven't gone anywhere else.

What are your suggestions?

Thanks so much!

Best value for the money as far as I can tell is Target. They always have a coupon online you can print for $4.99 sheets, and you get a free 8x10 and no sitting fee every time. The best thing is you can get several poses instead of just one like at WalMart. Also, they have really good photographers, bacgrounds and props. I am always happy there.

Hi there D.,

I take my kids all the time to picture people. I signed up for their free b-day programs etc. They send me coupons for free pictures all the time. With no obligation to pay anything.
They have no sitting fees also. I also get coupons in the snday newspaper and in baby magazines. You can buy more if you want but the 8x10 or 10x13 is absolutely free.

They are also great with kids. Their website is www.picturepeople.com
Have fun,Julie

I think the picture people are great. If you go to there website you can print off cupouns and sign up to get coupons in the mail. The coupons that I get without paying for the membership are a free 8x10 or another size they usually change up and no stiting fees. I would check out the packages they sell because if you go often you can probably save some money. If your looking for more natural pictures I have a photograhper who is great just let me know. =)

Try Target or Walmart, if those do not suit you try and take their picture near a fire place, outside by a tree, by a Christmas tree, and then have it enlarged at Walgreen`s. All portrait studios are a little bit pricy.

We always get our portraits done at Walmart- they have packages where you get like 35 portraits for $6-$9 and then you can choose from your extra poses (that's where they make their money). But they really are very reasonable, and they have some cute backgrounds. They're not as good as Kiddie Kandids, but mine have all come out pretty good!

Have you tried JCP's join the family portrait program and find a coupon for a 7.99 package or 3.99 per sheet (parents mag or web site). Have been going there for years. Only thing I don't like is the waiting period. Try going early... like now. Let me know. This year I'm thinking about doing our own family picture now that I have a better camera and photo printer.

Wal-Mart is great. It is like $8 for a really good sized package. the catch is that you have limits to the background you can choose, and they make you take the first good pose, but hey...for under $10 it is woth it!

I don't go anywhere but Portrait Innovations. They always get good shots of my daughter and the basic package is $9.95. I always spend more than that because the pictures are so good, but that's all you have to spend. They are at Blanco and 1604 in the Target shopping center. Just a tip - get an early appointment - they tend to get backed up by the afternoon.

Hi D.. We go to Sears. You can get a smile savers membership for $30 and there is no sitting fee for 2 years. Then you often get in the mail, Parents magazines, etc. coupons for $9.99 for and 8x10, 2 5x7s, 4 3 1/2x4s, and 16 wallets. If you go with something other than this package I don't think the prices are wonderful, but this package is a great deal.
We have been extremely happy with the job that they do and the pictures that they take. The hardest part is picking one pose out of all the really good ones. We go to the Sears at Central Park Mall and have had great experience with their people.
Good luck.

D., I always go to Potrait Innovations. They are very patient with the kids and always get a smile! They have a special for $9.95 of one pose and you get 10 sheets of pictures. They have lots of backgrounds too. I love that you get the pictures the same day. They have larger packages too. I always get the house special - 11 poses, 3 sheets of each plus a calendar and picture CD for $179.

When my kids were smaller, I would taken them to Olan Mills. there is no sitting fee and you can usually find a coupon online through their website. I have always been happy with their photographers.

Hi D..
We used to go to the high end gallery studios but now we have three children and it's very expensive to get individual pictures. So, we too, shopped around and were very satisfied with Target and for in between photos, such as dance class portraits and Easter prints we've even tried Wal Mart. They take tons of poses and you choose which ones and how many you want. What's great about Wal Mart is that you don't need an appointment. So, on a day when your little one is feeling great and looking really cute, you can just pop in and get her pic taken! So convenient.
Take Care!
