Seeking FT Summer Camp for 8 Yo Son in Carrollton/Addison/Farm Brnch or SMU Area

We offer outdoor recreation on Lake Grapevine - www.AdventureDayCamps.com - for families that send their kids to our camp all summer, I work with them on special pricing...I can offer $100 per week vs $200 if you guys come at least 6 of the 12 weeks we offer. Activities include Archery, Target Shooting, Kayaking/Canoeing, Fishing, Swimming, Arts & Craft Projects, Orienteering, Geocaching, and More.

If your son is enrolled in a CFBISD school, he can attend the After the Bell Summer program. He doesn't have to be enrolled during the year to go. This is what we did for my son last year, and will be doing it again this year. It is $110/wk. They go swimming one day a week, have field trips, do crafts, play on the playground, etc. The cost of the field trips is included, but sometimes you need to send a bit of money for lunch. They provide snacks, but you have to send a lunch. My son is also 8 and is looking forward to going again this summer. This was a better alternative for us than putting him in day care with our youngest (we did that over Christmas break and he was bored to tears!) or leaving him at home with his older brother (also boring for him). You can look into the YMCA camps in the area..there are a bunch! Plano Y, Town North Y, Park Cities Y and there is the YMCA Camp Grady Spruce.

A friend of mine recommended the YMCA camp to me. She said there is one where they take them out to Lake Lewisville and have different activities like swimming, horseback riding, sports, etc. They offer two weeks sessions for around $180. I think it runs from 8 to about 3 (with the option to go extended day til 6 pm). I sorry I can't remember the name of the camp, but I'm sure if you go to your local YMCA they can tell you which one it is. Good luck!

This is slightly more expensive than you're looking for, but my sons went to Cooper Institutes Youth camp for a couple years and really liked it. It's an excellent program that has alot of physical activity on their nicely shaded campus on Preston Road.

You might also check for the options available with your Town's recreation center or your local Y. Our town Flower Mound offers a very reasonably priced summer day camp that has lots of good activities.
