I completely understand your pain... My son was in a lot of pain at that age too.... He lived on gas drops... and I got that 'Baby Fart Aerobics' DVD that showed us how to massage his belly. We got a little routine going to 'bicycle' his legs, etc... and work some of that gas out. (helps for the constipation too)
Good luck... I hope he feels better soon.
It could be a food sensitivity. If you are breastfeeding, try cutting dairy out of our diet. The top 3 allergens for infants are dairy, nuts, and soy, so if cutting out dairy doesn't, eliminate one of the other two and see if that helps.
If you are formula feeding, try a can of alimentum or nutramigen. They are expensive, but allergen free. If he feels better with one of those formulas, then you can try other (less expensive) formulas to find one that he can tolerate.
My babies Doctor said as long as he doesn't seem in pain, then let him continue to toot, & that he will grow out of it eventually. He's five months old now and hardly ever toots anymore. He was such a loud and frequent tooter his first three months!! :)
you can try the bicycle movement with the legs...lay baby on his back and move his legs like he is riding a bike. that will help with the gas...
Have you tried infant massage? There's massage techniques that you can do on the baby's belly to help move gas bubbles etc. along the intestional tract. google it...i'm sure you can find a video out there that shows you the motions because you have to do it in a certain direction for it to work.
I formula fed all three of my kids. So, I had this problem too. I gave my kids diluted juice every day, even at that young age.
You can also give your baby Mylecon drops. This is especially for gas.
Hi, N.:
Are you burping your baby after each feeding?
Are you breastfeeding?
Is your baby constipated?
Just want to know?
D.
I could be a milk allergy. If you're breastfeeding then try cutting dairy out of your diet.
your baby might just be very sensitive to his/her food. If you are breast feeding cut out all dairy from your diet for a week or so and see if there is a difference. If your baby is on formula you may need a different type.
My daughter was so sensitive she had trouble with the soy also - once figured out she was a different baby!
For gas problems/pains: use infant gas drops- Mylicon gas drops. Works well and fast.
For bowel movement problems: what do you mean exactly? That baby is not pooping? That baby is pooping but it is hard? runny? not often? Too often?
Babies, have varying patterns of poop frequency... and is normal.
Depends if baby is breastfed or Formula fed too.
can you clarify what your baby's "bowel movement problems" are?
