Seeking Doctor Who Will Remove Facial Moles W/o Charging Too Much

I have those annoying hereditary raised moles that you get as you get older - pale and nothing to worry about...but they have gotten larger over the last few years. (Almost everyone in my family has them.) My dermatologist removed several from my body and my insurance paid their portion of it. He won't however remove the ones on my face because he says they are healthy looking - unless I pay cash. He says the insurance won't cover them unless they are deemed cancerous - and he won't remove anything w/o sending it to the lab for testing. His fee per mole is $75 plus a $75 lab fee for each. So it would cost me nearly $1000 to have the ones on my face and chin removed. Do any of you have family doc or derm that will do this for less...and hopefully submit it to insurance?

What can I do next?

It is typical they have to send them to a lab. Who is your doctor? His policy sounds ridiculous. Call any derm near you and tell them what you want and can they submit it to insurance. Again, don't expect to get around the part where they submit your mole to a lab.

If you tell them that the mole itches or your hair catches on it, your insurance should cover it. If its just to remove them for vanity reasons insurance wont cover.
You can also apply for a "care credit" credit card, it's low interest and you can only use it for medical, dental or vetrinarian services.

I go to Valley of the Sun Dermatology in NorthScottsdale. I had the same thing you talked about and even though she said they looked fine, because it bothered me, she went ahead and shaved them as close to the skin on my cheek as she could without having to go deep and cause stiches and scarring, I was very satisfied, insurance paid for them as far as I can remember. I see Samantha Jordan, she is awesome been going to her for about 10 years. at the very least I'd make an appt and get them all checked out and see what she says, the insurance should pay for that.
