Ashely - Congratulations! I delivered my son, Justin Cole, who is 4 years old, at Southern Regional's Women's Center right after it opened. I loved it. Great rooms, great care. The labor/delivery rooms are so nice - big and comfortable. They make you forget that you are really in a hospital. Also, on the doctors, I wish my GYN was still an OB - love him, Dr. William Kilpatrick at the Women's Center in Fayetteville (one of their office locations is in Piedmont Fayette Hospital). I've seen the OBs there but when I had Justin I chose to have a midwife attend me. It worked out wonderfully. I saw both mid-wives that the Women's Center had - Kendra Duncan and Kate Fouquier and Kate ended up delivering Justin. It worked out really well - I ended up with 18 hours of labor, 4 of which were pushing. I learned later that an OB probably wouldn't have let me push so long - I would have ended up having a C-section. Kate was great and made sure that Justin was doing great. If he had had any problems - breathing or heartbeat changes - they would have taken me right into a C-section. Since he did great, Kate let me go until he popped out (they did have to use the little plunger cap though... his head was turned slightly to the side and my pelvic bone didn't want to let him pass...). Anyway, great experience with my pregnancy, very comfortable with the midwives and S. Regional was great. I think I had about 6 people in the room with me (I don't think they let you do that anymore)... If you are interested in midwives, Kate or Kendra would be great. They are still on the southside I think but no longer with the same OB/GYN practice. I've heard great things about Piedmont as well. The Piedmont Fayette Women's Center is supposed to open this year I think... maybe in time for you?
Best wishes,
