Has anyone delivered their baby at Southern Regional at the new womans center? Or piedmont hospital? I am 4 months pregnant and looking to switch doctors. My doctor now is an hour away. I liked piedmont when I toured it but need referals on a doctor that delivers there. Any suggestions on a doctor that delivers at piedmont or southern regional???

What can I do next?

Ashely - Congratulations! I delivered my son, Justin Cole, who is 4 years old, at Southern Regional's Women's Center right after it opened. I loved it. Great rooms, great care. The labor/delivery rooms are so nice - big and comfortable. They make you forget that you are really in a hospital. Also, on the doctors, I wish my GYN was still an OB - love him, Dr. William Kilpatrick at the Women's Center in Fayetteville (one of their office locations is in Piedmont Fayette Hospital). I've seen the OBs there but when I had Justin I chose to have a midwife attend me. It worked out wonderfully. I saw both mid-wives that the Women's Center had - Kendra Duncan and Kate Fouquier and Kate ended up delivering Justin. It worked out really well - I ended up with 18 hours of labor, 4 of which were pushing. I learned later that an OB probably wouldn't have let me push so long - I would have ended up having a C-section. Kate was great and made sure that Justin was doing great. If he had had any problems - breathing or heartbeat changes - they would have taken me right into a C-section. Since he did great, Kate let me go until he popped out (they did have to use the little plunger cap though... his head was turned slightly to the side and my pelvic bone didn't want to let him pass...). Anyway, great experience with my pregnancy, very comfortable with the midwives and S. Regional was great. I think I had about 6 people in the room with me (I don't think they let you do that anymore)... If you are interested in midwives, Kate or Kendra would be great. They are still on the southside I think but no longer with the same OB/GYN practice. I've heard great things about Piedmont as well. The Piedmont Fayette Women's Center is supposed to open this year I think... maybe in time for you?

Best wishes,
C.

I went to Women's Medical Center in Riverdale and all the doctor's and Midwives deliver at Southern Regional, but they also have an office now in Fayette Community Hospital (still only deliver at Southern Regional). I delivered 2 of my girls there through that doctor's office. I saw every doctor and midwife in the practice throughout my pregnancies which you can do or stick with one person if you prefer; I actually preferred to see the midwives and they delivered both my daughters with no problems. I didn't have a problem with anyone there. There main number is ###-###-####.

A. - My oldest daughter used Southern Crescent Women's in the medical building next to Piedmont-Fayette. It is a large group and you see a different doctor just about every time you go. You pretty much take potluck when the time comes with whoever is on call at the time. However, she had a wonderful doctor, Dr. Nater, who was absolutely great. Midwife, Kate Fouquier, actually "caught" the baby for us and was so relaxed and fun. At that time, they were using Southern Regional (Piedmont-Fayette hadn't finished their OB unit) and it was fabulous. Not just a beautiful facility, but a great staff. I highly recommend it.

My younger daughter wanted to know who was going to be with her, so she looked for an OB who was in practice alone. She found Dr. Peter Ulbrich in Peachtree City and was very happy with him. At the time, he was (unfortunately) delivering at Atlanta Medical - not the nicest facility, but lovely care. Now that Piedmont-Fayette is finished, he will be delivering there.
