Seeking Church Home in Grand Prairie (Or VERY Near)

My husband and I have had problems finding a church home we can agree on. Please only respond if you know a church that fits our needs based on this post (I know those of you who have different religions are passionate about your beliefs, but I am looking for something pretty specific and not interested in changing religions)

Denomination: Nondenominational, Baptist, or something very similar
Location: Close to South Grand Prairie
Size: My husband likes the HUGE churches with great music and won't attend a tiny church
- Must have a good nursery/ children's program
-would like it to have sunday school or small group Bible Studies for couples
- would LOVE a church that has Sunday evening services and/ or something around 10 on Sunday morning. Wednesday night service would be a nice one too if available.
- Must be near home- child HATES the car

Our problem is that Hubby wants the big church w/ great music and I like slightly smaller churches where it's easier to meet people with some great preaching 9and the chance to meet and know the pastor). We are both shy and will breeze in and out of places without being noticed because it's comfortable, but it isn't fulfilling.

Does anyone have any suggestions, or is this a losing battle?

What can I do next?

Please check out First Baptist Duncanville. Here is the website: www.duncanvillefbc.org

We have an orchestra, adult and youth choirs, Wed. night prayer service (6:00), then some type of evangelism class taught by new assoc. pastor, as well as adult choir practice and youth services (7:00). We always have Sunday night services at 6:00, and normally have several Bible study classes at 4:30 or 5:00 on Sundays, which are different topics and often last 6-weeks at a time.

We have Mother's Day Out on Tues and Thurs, and big children's area with Children's Church for 1st-6th grade if the child does not want to be in Big Church on Sundays.

We have lots of ministries to get involved with (missions, clothes closet for low-income families, Fall Festival, Vacation Bible School) as follows:

June 9-13 9am to noon, 4 years old through 6th grade. 1st through 6th grade are eligible for Children's Music Camp at 1 pm, Music Camp is optional for a $50 cost. There is also an adult class for mom's who don't want to leave their children there by themselves. That has been very successful in reaching more adults.

You can exit Cedar Ridge Rd. off of I-20 East to get there, to Wheatland Rd. and take left on Wheatland. The church is located just over the railroad tracks on Wheatland.

Please email me separately if you would like me to meet you or give you any additional information.

Crossroads Church in Grand Prairie is nice. It's not small but it's also not too big, compared to the size of most churches today. The kids programs are wonderful and when we lived over there, my kids loved it. We live near Keller now and my 6 year old still wants to go to Crossroads on Sundays.

They also have SEVERAL small bible study groups for men, women and couples.

I highly recommend Shady Grove Church in Grand Prairie. We live too far to attend there but we try to visit there at least once a year for conferences or special speakers. They have a wonderful pastor and a friend of mine says its the best worship music he's ever experienced. (We've not been there to hear their worship leaders so I cannot verify that personally.) They have a private school for children so I'm sure they have a good children's ministry as well.

I hope you will give it a try.

Blessings,
A.

Fellowship of Joy (fellowshipofjoy.com)
Located in Grand Prairie off of Pioneer Parkway (303) and just east of Carrier. We have two services: one at 9:00 & one at 10:45. The kids program is awesome & we have wonderrful children's pastors. We have an awesome choir with GREAT music!! We are not a mega church and we aren't tiny...just right size (my opinion)! There are a number of different Bible classes including a couples class. We don't currently meet on Sunday evenings but do have Wednesday night classes. There are other things going on through the week if you are interested. Our pastor is great & preaches straight from the Bible which is very important to us. We don't want to go to church to hear, "10 steps to a better you." We want to hear what the Word says. Anyway, would love to have you visit if you can. If you want more info or have any questions feel free to message me. Hope you find a church home soon! God Bless.

I go to Fielder Road Baptist Church in Arlngton off of Pioneer and Fielder. It may be too far for you. It's a big church and it has awesome children programs. It has a 9:30 (choir/orchestra)/11:15 (praise team/contemporary) service, and bible studies alternate so you can find one that fits your needs. It's a great church and I've been a member for over 13 years. We have s bible studies on Wednesday nights and the greatest Children's programs while you go to bible study. It's very easy to meet people and our greeter's will walk you through the entire process from dropping the kids off and taking you to the class and introducing you to the small group hosts. If you decide to visit, let me know and I will be glad to meet you and help you get around.
