My family and I are moving to Highland Village next month. We are in search of a good Catolic church. My children are 12 & 10 and I also need to sign them up for ccd classes. Any recommendations would be appreciated. Thank you

You may want to look at Immaculate Conception in Denton. I know it's near Texas Woman's Univ. but I can't remember the name of the street. I've heard good things about it.

Hi J.,

I have a friend who goes to St Phillip in Lewisville, which might be the closest church to you. My family goes to St Mark in Denton & we really like it there. The CCD classes for the older kids are on Wednesday evening, and the LifeTeen mass is at 5pm on Sunday with a teen social/activity afterward. You might just check them both out to see which one "feels" right for your family.

We really enjoy St.Philip's in Lewisville. We know several people who attend there who live in Highland Village.

As with most churches, your involvement helps get to know people and feel a part of the church. They've got many opportunities to do so. There is a Religious Ed program for Elementary and Middle School and a program for High School age as well. They are currently hiring for a Youth Minister, so things will pick up even more when that person is hired.

Here is the church website with a Contact page for the Director of Religious Ed to sign up .. www.stphilipcc.org

Welcome to the area!!!

J.,
We live in Highland Village and go to St. Francis Catholic Church in Grapevine. It's a bit further but we liked it the best out of all of the Catholic churches near us. You can check it out at www.sfatx.org. Let me know if you have any questions!

We attend St. Philip in Lewisville. St. Philip does things a little differently, and you'll either like it, or you won't. Their CCD program is 6 weeks in the fall, and 6 weeks in the spring- my kids are younger, so I don't know what the middle/high school programs are like. When I grew up CCD was 52 weeks a year, taught by nuns, so it was a little odd to me to offer only 12 classes a year. I hope that helps.

Hi J.,
Welcome to the neighborhood!

We have several friends and neighbors who are Catholic. Most go to St. Ann's and love it there. We know of two families that go to St. Phillips. We know people who have gone through CCD classes at both.

Your closest is St. Phillips in Lewisville....St. Ann's in Coppell seems to be the most popular. You need to check them out (and the one in Denton) to see which fits your style best! Hopefully you can find a car pool for those CCD classes.

Enjoy your new home!

Hello...

We have been in Texas for almost eight years and were in the same boat as you. We moved from Chicago where Catholic churches were on every corner. Anyways, after some time in different churches, we found to love St. Ann in Coppell. From HV it is about a 15-20 minute car ride (depending on where you are in HV). We live in Flower Mound and have never had any issues with traveling there. My kids are involved in the preschool there. I am part of the moms group and good sams club. There are many ministries available and one would find it hard to not find something to get involved with (moms clu, mens club, religious ed, SAY (St. Ann Youth), choir to name a few. It is a large parish, but the community is absolutely amazing. Words cannot truly express how great it is, but I welcome you to try it some time.

Good luck...feel free to contact me if any questions...L.
