I suggest you really check them out first as we went to a couple that were disgusting. One was north on 15 and off Gopher Canyon Road, I believe. There were stinky outhouses and a smelly pond. One camper thought it was wonderful and was thinking of using it as a timeshare yearly. I couldn't believe it. We used to be in Canada where campgrounds were in beautiful nature. But maybe there are some nice ones. I just came to think that there weren't any great ones around here.

You should check out Lake Henshaw, they have tent campgrounds, RV hook-ups and cabins and even a small store and restaurant. You can go fishing at the lake, it is beautiful. Also, there are several campgrounds in the Cuyamaca Lake area, but I haven't been to those.

We love William Heise, near Julian. It's great. We also like Dos Picos in Ramona. The beach ones are real nice, like South Carlsbad State Beach. There are a few on Palomar Mountain that are nice too.

Hi C.-

Our family likes to hike and our favorite place is William Heise, right outside of Julian. It get's hot so I wouldn't recommend it during the heart of the summer. We also like to go to Agua Caliente and Vail Lake. Agua Caliente & William are county parks. Here is the website. http://www.co.san-diego.ca.us/parks/Camping/info.html

My son and I do Adventure Guides out of the Mission Valley YMCA and that is another way that we go camping. There are a few tent camping places through out the year, and also we go to places that have cabins. Please feel free to email me if you want more information.

Anyway, have fun!! We love camping!
