I am looking for a good behavioral therapist/counselor or my 4 1/2 year old son who is non-compliant and aggressive. He doesn't listen, throws tantrums, hits his sister, hits and bites me, and talks back to us. We have tried positive discipline and negative discipline. He has been diagosed with high functioning autism and his home theapy (ABA therapy) through the school district isn't working. I need another professional to evaluate him and give me sound advise.
Nothing is working. It is starting to effect my marriage and it making me depressed. I need some help with dealing with my son.
Does anyone have any recommendations for a good therapist in the Long Beach area? We live in Long Beach near the Seal Beach/Los Alamitos border. However, I am willing to travel for the right therapist.

Did you contact your regional center? They often offer behavioral training and/or could recommend a local therapist (as well as help pay for it). I believe Harbor Regional has an office in Long Beach.

I would contact my family doctor for suggestions. WE go to Dr. Kaplan in Los Alamitos and I'm sure someone there can give you a great referral.

Make sure you contact your regional center about providing ABA at home for issues related SPECIFICALLY to home and not ones that carry over into school. then you should be able to get help from this company at home which is what it sounds like you need.
