My 9 year old daughter has recently developed an interest in ballet and would love to start taking lessons. I have no idea where to send her that would be resonable in cost, convenient in location and most of all fun and rewarding. Any suggestions?
My daughter attends ballet at Victory School of Arts aka Victory Christian Center in the Bethany/Warr Acres area. She really enjoys it. The teachers there are all wonderful and have been teaching for many years. People drive in from all around here just for it. Its $45 a month and it runs from September to May then they offer a summer course too. They offer more than just ballet. There is jazz, pom, tap, and a few others.
My daughter attends Cross Connection Dance. It is a very small group who meet at a church on the south side at SW 89th and Walker. It is not very formal and it is more lyrical ballet than traditional (she would not have toe shoes later) but it is only $25 per month and they have a winter recital that we just had and the costume was $10 and then they have a bigger spring recital and the costume for that was maybe $30-$40 last year. I recommend it for a beginning place for her to see if it is really something she wants to do. She will learn the basics for a year or two and you won't be out too much money if it does not work out (trust me the "real" ballet schools are much more expensive). Hi I also live in Yukon and my 2 daughters go to Academy of Dance Arts. This is there 2nd year there and I love it! I pay about $60 a month for both $30 a piece and a costume fee that differs but the rectail that they put on really is great. It is held at the Mustang high school and they realy make them feel like starz! I like the staff and teachers. The school is off of Mustang and Reno.
