I'm throwing a narrow net here, but this is what I'm looking for:
* female psychologist/psychiatrist with experience in treating post partum depression/mood disorders
* supportive/pro Attachment Parenting (co-sleeping, baby wearing, ecological breastfeeding, child-led weaning, etc)
* metro area (I'm in St. Louis Pk, but will drive a bit to see the right person)
* takes insurance (I'm on Medica)
Anyone know someone who fits this bill? I've asked on AP Doctor Referral as well...
Thanks!

Ingrid Meyer, MA, LP at Healing from Roots to Branches. Just the name of the practice says it all! She is very intuitive, uses a variety of therapies including sand tray, EMDR, traditional therapy, whatever the client is most comfortable with. I don't exactly know her viewpoints on attachment parenting, but she is pretty granola, in a good way, and a good therapist works where the client is anyway unless they are vehemently opposed morally. I do know she has experience with attachment and bonding related to adoptive families. The practice is in Minnetonka right between Ridgedale Rd. and Hopkins Crossroads off 394, so shouldn't be a huge drive for you. The website is roots2branchesmn.com. Good luck!
Hi V.,
I'm sorry I do not have a recommendation to you for a therapist however I do have some advice directly related to your issue. Do you take Omega-3's? There are numerous studies that show that Omega 3's can help with depression. Since you have just recently delivered your baby it is even more important to get on a supplemement ASAP. Have you ever heard the term "pregnant brain"? Some women have a harder time remembering things, etc while they are pregnant - the reason for this is that our growing babies deplete our bodies of all of our Omega 3's because they are essential for their brain development (much like they deplete our bodies of calcium - you should have your teeth checked too!) You need to replenish the Omega 3's in your body - I am not saying that this will "cure" your PPD but you may notice a significant increase in your mood and/or mental clarity. It also will be better for your breast fed baby for you to increase your Omega 3's instead of taking the anti-depressant that they will for sure prescribe for you - and an added benefit to that is that your little girl will be getting some amazing brain food via your Omega 3 enriched milk!!
Please do not go out and buy the "box store" variety Omega 3 - it is important that you buy from a reputable company to ensure that you get the highest quality Omega 3. Some companies are more worried about shelf stability than quality of their product.
If you would like anymore information about this - please feel free to contact me at ____@____.com luck!!
