We are getting ready to take my 5 y/o son to the Thoughtful House. He has developmental delays, ADHD, possible autism and sleep problems. We have only seen a neurologist so far but have not made much progress at all. I would love any feedback at all-Thanks!

What can I do next?

I am going through a similar situation. Stay strong. We live in Houston/Katy so I don't know anything about the specific place you are asking about. I just wanted to send you a little note to say that I feel what you are going through, and good luck. I will keep your family in my thoughts prayers along with my own.

Actually, I would choose CareClinic Austin before I would ever choose Thoughtful House. Thoughtful House charges you every time they answer a question by the phone from the doctor. I have already talked to several doctors at Care Clinic in Austin and have not paid anything yet. I will once I go, but they verify insurance before they charge you a penny.

You could email Kazuko and get a response on Monday. Besides, they work 7 days a week, and you could make your appointments on the weekend, without having to take off work.

L.,

There is a listserve one could join where many families share their views in regards to their experiences out at the Thoughtful House.
Since you are considering information, this is one place you could also ask yours.

My son is not seen out at the Thoughtful House but in the past I have searched into the center but due to my financial status unable to afford out of pocket expenses, then one can claim it under the health insurance which was nice to know.
Thoughtful House would be a nice place to take your child when it involves applying the biomedical approach. If the doctor at this time is unable to attend to your child, there is a wonderful medical practitioner who will assist as well and if anything is needed will ask the doctor for anything, many have been pleased.
The only problem some families complain about is the cost like when inquiring afterwards for anything such as consultation over the phone you get charged, etc. If able to afford it and then claim it with your insurance then it is all worth it.
This is one of the places I do recommend my friends take their child, you will not have any regrets, just be ready for it and understand the protocol to make it affective and worth every penny.

My son is 15 w/ severe autism. The best help we ever received was OT/Speech and from our neurologist. We also have an neurodevelopmental pediatrician which has been helpful although we are looking for another since our is not covered by insurance.

I have heard and been recommended to the Thoughtful House. I have also been told negative things about the Thoughtful House; however, those who were negative are not inclined to believe in the biomedical approach or criticized the high expense.

The reason we did not go forward with going to the Thoughtful House was simply that we did not have the money. Insurance does not cover everything the Thoughtful House does and we simply could not afford unknown expenses nor did we want to start therapy only to put it on hold because we ran out of money.

If you have the resources to try, I would do it...BUT, have a specific goal in mind when going. They will have a team approach and probably show you many options or needs that need to be addressed. Choose the most important first, check the benefits received and then go on from there...This is only my advice and whatever you decide I wish you the best.

I wish I could tell you about the CareClinic but I know nothing about it...sorry!
