Hi M. our son attended Connections Academy for two years and we felt he recieved a much better education than in public school. If you would like more information please feel free to write me at ____@____.com and I will be more than happy to answer any questions you might have.
We felt overall it was a great experience for him and it gave us the opportunity to be hands on with his education. I wish your son nothing but the best and believe that the whole family will benefit from this experience.
Look forward to talking with you.

Hi M.,

My kids also attended connections academy for a couple of years. We liked it ok but ended up doing traditional homeschooling for the last 1 1/2 years. We are doing Florida Virtual school this coming year for our 6th grader. You can email me at ____@____.com if you would like. She started taking an art class over the summer and loves it.

My younger children did connections academy and my older son is with Florida virtual school. I believe your question is about Florida Virtual School so I will address that. If you want input on Connections Academy let me know because we were involved in that for 2 years but have went to regular homeschooling.

My son started Flordia Virtual School last year. The program worked out well for us.

They tell you they call you as a parent once a month but a few of the teachers didn't. One teacher called me on a Friday and told me my student was behind on assignments and if a certain number of assignments were not finished by Sunday then he would be dropped from the class.

Once this happened I called the teacher every other week and made sure I had a copy of the dates assignments were expected to be completed. (It's called the pace chart).

I checked my son's grades and work in the grade book each week too.

Other teachers were great and when my son had issues they gave him more time to complete the work.

Keep the communication open with the teacher and you will be fine.

Take advantage of the virtual school office hours and tutoring hours which take place each night for one hour. Your student can submit questions for assignments they are having an issue with. My son was on almost everynight in Algebra. He would give a number on an assignment and an individual teacher would work out a simular problem Live ont he internet. They continued to work with him the entire hour or until he grasped the problem and could complete one correctly on his own.

Also call a teacher with a problem and she will do the same thing. Just make sure when going on the tutoring site that you start the first day about 30 minutes early because you will have to download a program that takes a few minutes.

The teachers can direct you with any questions you have. You will see the tutoring hours on the home page each day when your student signs in.

If you have any additional questions you can e-mail me at ____@____.com

Good Luck

I have a friend whose daughter took classes at FLVS. She said nothing but good things about it. Her daughter had trouble until she started there. It helped her immensely.
