K.,
There are a lot of direct selling companies out there that can meet your needs. However, you must work them. There is no magic product that makes you wealthy overnight. You need to talk about your product to everyone, not be afraid to talk about it to everyone and have confidence in your product. You need to sponsor other consultants under you - a cornerstone to direct selling. It is truly a job that you must work. The rewards to working it can be Great!
The Direct Sellers Association may have links to different companies you can check out - we all know the big ones.
I work full time, but have dabbled in direct selling in the hopes I can stay home with my son. My situation is different because I do not have a lot of free time to work my business. I currently work with Heritage Makers; an amazing company that promotes family Heritage through storybooks. Think scrapbooks meets the digital age but more! They have posters, cards, calendars, playing cards, books that you can use templates or creat your own. No programs (Photoshop) necessary, just a computer and Internet. I am addicted as a customer but not as great as a consultant because I do work full time.
I want you to do your research. Some companies you can spend $10 to join, others you have to spend $300. Some you have to keep an inventory of product (spending your money) and some you do not. Personally I like not having an inventory - I purchased my kit which had examples of the books and that is all I need product wise. My cost is very low. The other company I worked with I was constantly purchasing the new product because everyone wanted to try it, smell it, etc. I was spending more than I was making.
Also consider how many consultants are in the area - some companies have a plethora of consultants over saturating the market. Another reason I joined Heritage Makers is they have only about 20 consultants in MI. The first company I joined had thousands and stores in MI - why have a party and pay shipping when they can drive to the store! LOL
Do your research, ask a lot of questions. Think of how many hours you can truly dedicate to a business. Think of how much money you want to spend to join a company. Do you have the seller in you? Can you approach strangers when you run out of friends/family? Do you feel the company has integrity - your best interest in mind?
