Would love to hear from all you moms about H1N1 vaccine and whether you think it is a bad idea for my 4year old grandson to have, or not. My Pediatrician has left the decision up to Daddy and Mommy (and Grandpa and Grandma were asked their opinion). I have read Dr. Sears colum and have asked my grandsons pediatrican and they both say they are leaving up to the parents.....and the parents want to know what we think.....we feel if he was our child, we would not give it, but since he is there child it should be up to them....they asked me to ask around and I thought of all you gracious Moms who are a wealth of information and help. Very thankfully, M.

What can I do next?

I usually don't respond to many things on here, but this one just really gets me because there is sooo much false info out there.
1st of all, I am not a huge flu shot fan, but I tried so hard to get this back in oct. no one had it. The main reason I tried is because although the vast majority of kids are FINE if they have it, some are not... kids were dying out there.
so anyway, then (end of oct), my daughter (5) came down with h1n1, 5 days later, my 2 yr old son. they both got tamiflu within the 1st 48hrs and still, I have NEVER seen them so sick. my daughter missed a week of school. many of her classmates were sick and missed a ton of school, i believe 2 kids ended up in the hospital (they ended up fine). My girlfriend's girl came down with pneumonia from it (perfectly healthy before this). you can go look on the county's public health page to see the fatalities (!)... it is really scary. This is not a normal flu, there are kids that are DYING, and even if most are fine, the chance of that is just SO NOT worth it.

This is the million dollar question lately isn't it? We are hearing so much about vaccinations it is tough to know who to trust. I can't tell you what you should do, nor should anyone else, but I can tell you what I have done and will do from now on.

When I moved to LA in 2001, my then 6 year old daughter was starting grade 1, we had moved from Canada. The school would not accept her Canadian vaccination report so she was "re-vaccinated". The school would not accept her without them. My poor baby was subjected to 11 vaccinations in a period of 3 days. It was terrible. She cried, I cried, she threw up, I threw up, she was sore and achy and my heart broke knowing I did this to her. I didn't know what else to do. I just did what I was told.

In the last 7 years I have learned SOOOOOOO much. Since then, I have taken it upon myself to learn all that I can about the health of my family. I believe that our medical doctors take care of our sickness and we are responsible for our health. Vaccinations, to me, are part of that "sickness" industry. You see, injecting me or my family with a "dead form of the disease" so my body can make up the antibodies to protect me "just in case I get it" is just like saying to me now..."hey B., I am going to break your child's arm so that just in case your child breaks her arm her body will know how to heal it". Most people would say that is ludicrous but that is how I feel about vaccinations. It is just my opinion. I have done the research and I can say with all clarity, I truly believe that vaccinations are harmful to people. If you don’t think so, just ask Jenny Mccarthy.

I have been a family wellness coach for the 4 years. I know more about how to keep a body healthy than most doctors (they know how to treat sick bodies, but ask them to help you with proper diet and nutrition and most will say – “just eat from that guide thing - that will keep you healthy” - that is laughable)

My extensive training in health, nutrition and wellness has given me the confidence that when my 10 year old child brought home her vaccination request this year, I wrote in big bold letters with a fat Sharpie, "NO VACCINATIONS ALLOWED".

I will never again subject my children to the dangers of what the sickness industry calls "prevention". Prevention my butt. Prevention is taking vitamins and minerals to supplement our diet because our food supply is so depleted. Prevention is washing our hands (regularly) with a mild natural soap, sneezing into our sleeves, and covering our mouths when we cough - with our arm. Prevention is exercising regularly to keep our bodies and bones healthy and strong. Prevention is getting proper rest and relaxation. Prevention is eating right. Prevention is removing as much garbage from our diet as possible. Prevention is the key. I believe in EDUCATION NOT MEDICATION.

It is your child and your decision, but I do urge you to educate yourself. Sure it is easy to trust your doctor, but know that over 200 000 people per year DIE from properly prescribed medication…yes I said PROPERLY PRESCRIBED MEDS. My goodness…when will it end?
**Just an aside...look back about 30 years when the doctors used to RECOMMEND pregnant women smoke so they wouldn't gain too much weight...just something to think about.

We had decided to skip it. We figured that our kids didn't have any health problems that may be effected by this flu. Most of the people who have had complication had a health issue that caused them.

We are double thinking this choice just because our son just had a recent serious bout with asthma caused by illness. That is the ONLY reason why we are considering the H1N1. If your grandson has no secondary health issues, I would say no shot.

Hi M.,

I bet you will get dozens of responses on this! I started out a few months ago thinking my family would probably get the vaccine but without mercury. Then I started to do a little more research because of the lack of testing. The more I learned the more I strongly I am against this vaccine. There is a lot of money at stake for vaccine companies & they are exempt from any lawsuits. It does not make sense to have the companies that stand to profit (hugely!) perform safety testing of the vaccine... but that is what has happened. Here are some references I think everyone should check out:

Hi M.,
We also have a 4-year-old and we have decided againt it. I've done a lot of research on it, and I also follow Dr. Sears, Dr. Jay Gordon and Dr. Mercola's advice and our family is skipping it. Too many unknowns and now serious side effects are showing up in countries who started vaccinating before us.

I strongly believe in the safety and efficacy of vaccines. My son (15 mo)is fully vaccinated per the AAP and just received his H1N1 shot last week. I encourage you to read the recent vaccine book by Dr. Paul Offit, Chief of the Division of Infectious Diseases, and the Director of the Vaccine Education Center at The Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. Please study the actual science behind vaccines before you make your conclusion. I believe quite strongly in this issue but will spare you all a long and detailed reply on the subject! :)

Hey M.,
The possible side effects from the H1N1 are pretty severe. There are some great articles about some of the tragedies that have occurred from this vaccine on a website called: www.mercola.com Just type in H1N1 and you'll get about 30-40 articles giving you the latest scoop on the vaccine, and the negative side-effects, which the AMA and CDC are not reporting on their websites.
Also, please note that when you read the paperwork that goes with the vaccine, it specifically states that it has not been tested on pregnant women or young children.
Finally, if your grandson's parents decide to get the vaccine, encourage them to check to make sure that the vaccines are thermosil (or mercury free). No need to add other potential health risks as a result of this vaccine.

I am a Mother of a 3 year old almost turning 4. My son has had numerous problems with asthma when he gets sick. I was told by my pediatrician to make sure he gets the H1N1 vaccine because of the asthma. I was hesitant at first because I have a cousin that works for Kaiser urgent care and she had informed me of various people coming in with side effects to this vaccine. What completely changed my mind to have him receive the vaccine was the news one morning when I was about to leave to work. A mother of a 7 year old boy was on the news, she had just lost her son to the Swine Flu and she was urging parents that were hesitating to give their children this vaccine due to side effects to go out right away and get it. If she would have given it to her son she would not have lost him. My son has received his vaccine 2 weeks before Thanksgiving as well as myself, neither of us had any side effects whatsoever. He is due for a second dose, and I will not hesitate to get it for him. Hope this helps.

We are not giving it to our daughter. Our pediatrician it for shots, but he is even hesitant on this one. It is just to new in my opinion and I don't want my child being used as a lab rat! Just wanted to add for those who keep pointing out that people are dying, people die every year from regular flu and complications as well, but you don't see the media going nuts with that information. Consider the source. It is a hard decision, but if you educate yourself with information, not media hype you will feel better about the decision you make.

Just like the global warming fiasco, it was mostly hype and not even near the pandemic they said it would be. We are past the hump of the exposure first of all and why would anyone want to put aluminum and mercury and monkey virus in their blood stream. The H1N1 flu is much milder than the regular flu and if you get it, you will be immune. The shots do not provide that.

There are many things to do to help prevent and many things to do to lessen and shorten it if you do get it. Vitamin D3 - they are finding that most children do not have enough of this and what you are getting from milk is the wrong kind. A simple blood test will tell you where you are at and it is safe to take 1,000 mg, at least, each day for children. Mine take 2,000 mg to 4,000 mg depending on what is happening. I take between 2,000 mg and up to 7,000 mg depending on my exposure to a lot of people through my work or if I am feeling run down.

Don't fall for the hype and expose your grandson to even more toxins than what are in their vaccines. Did you know that in 1983, children had up to 10 vaccines by the time they entered kindergarten. This year, it will be up to 46 vaccines and at least 36 if they use the CDC and AAP schedule (btw the CDC has a different schedule for it's employees, a delayed and spread out one).
