Seeking Advice on Potty Training "Supplies"

There are lots of flushable wipes on the market. I buy Cottonelle, but they make some especially for children, too. I use toilet paper for the initial wipe and then follow up with the wipes to get my son completely clean. As far as advice on training, I would nix the pull ups and go with training pants which can be difficult to find. I got mine at Walmart. Also, put him in sweat pants. They will soak up lots of urine as will the training pants if he has an accident, which he will. Sounds like your doing great, but be warned you have started very early given that he is a boy and may regress at some point. Make sure there is no pressure on him and that you never get angry or irritated. Good luck!!

Hi E.! My husband is a plumber and has always told me to NEVER flush those "flushable" wipes. If you use the wipes, just throw them in the trash and take the trash out often. My 3 yr old son is potty trained and I have always used toilet paper. It has always worked fine for me.
Good luck to you. I also agree with the other moms about not using pullups (only at bedtime of course). My son would pee in pullups on purpose cuz he knew they would absorb the pee. Go for the walmart underwear that has a tiny bit of padding on the front.Those are awesome!

Kandoo makes flushable wipes. I buy them on the baby aisle at the grocery store. Not expensive- but to make them last longer I use regular toilet paper for pee times, and the Kandoo wipes for the other. It's a good product.

You haven't started too early, even for a boy. If he was able to do what you described, he's ready. Look for the flushable wipes in the toilet paper aisle. We use Cottonelle.
Once my kids had done what your son has done, we only used pull-ups at night and used cotton training pants during the day because they are more like underwear. Pull ups are convenient and less messy, but feel too much like a diaper and don't give them that yucky feeling if they go in their pants. You can find the cotton training pants at Wal-Mart and Babies R Us. They have plastic covers you can use too, but my kids didn't like them. We only had a few accidents in the training pants, mostly when they were having too much fun doing something to stop and go to the potty. Just expect a few accidents. Good luck.
