I am a big fan of Graco. My pack n play and monitors, strollers, carseats, everything was Grace and I never had one problem with anything.
I have been setting up my registry and it is about to drive me crazy. However I have two specific questions. My husband and I looked at the Pack n' Plays and really liked the Chicco LX Lullaby Play Yard, however the reviews I have read from other moms are either on one extreme or the other. Does any one have any experience with the Chicco Pack n' Plays? Alos, we have been trying to decide on a baby monitor, we don;t want one that has video on it, unless someoone has some great experience with those. My sister-in-law got the the Summer Infant 2.4 GHz 2 piece digital monitor set in silver. The reviews I have seen are awful, but she has never had any problems with it, does anyone have experience with these, or any other monitors that they like that aren't on the higher price end? I greatly appreciate any help and these questions or any other registry advice you might be able to provide.
Thank you to everyone who responded. It was great to get advice from people I could actually ask further questions to and get all those nagging details figured out rather than having to rely on random reviews where I could get no further information. I can now register for products that I feel safe about. Thank you for making my first "Advice" ask a great one!!

I have the Chicco Lullaby Playard - Sahara and Summer Infant Day and Night Handheld Color Video Monitor. I love both of them.
I just went on my first out of town trip with my 10 week old for 4 days. The playard was great. It comes with a musical thing that will turn on when the baby cries. Since my little one is soothed by music, it was great. Also, I was scared she would not sleep as well. She slept fantastic.
As for the monitor, I have had no issues. I love that I can see her without having to walk in her room and take the chance of waking her up. The only thing I suggest is buy the protection plan that is offered with it at Babies R Us. My husband dropped the monitor and the screen no longer worked. Go figure, he did the same thing with his Palm Pilot. I had to go buy another one. This time I bought the insurance in case it is dropped again.
We have been using our Graco monitor for 5 years now, never with a problem! I had purchased another one originally but could hear one of my neighbors. The graco one has worked in both a two story and a one story and when I take it outside. Our playyard is graco also and we have been happy with it. I have had great experiences with fisher price products as well.
I have a Graco Pack-N-Play and love it.
I also have a Summer Infant Video Monitor and LOVE it too. I can see my little girl all the time and when she was really tiny i could watch her tummy go up and down to make sure that she was breathing. I have the 5" monitor that's b&w....it works so good. and it's funny to watch her now that she's bigger. My husband and I will just sit there in front of the monitor watching her and laughing when she wakes up in the morning. Even if you don't get the Summer Video Monitor...you should really reconsider getting some kind of video monitor...they are REALLY worth the extra money!
Good luck w/ your new baby!!!! They are so much fun!
We never used our play yard much but I did want to comment on the video monitor. I LOVE having one. I reccomend it to everyone. We have a 2 story so not only does it save me from running up and down the stairs when I hear something it saves me disturbing my daughter from her sleep to go in and check on her. She is almost 2 and I couldn't live without it. It is so wonderful when I started lying her down awake so she could learn to soothe herself, all the way to the middle of the night to see if she was ok, to now when she first gets up I don't run in to get her I wait until she stands up, then I know she is fully awake and ready to get up. I love it, love it.
I am not sure about the play yard...we have the Graco, bassinet, diaper changer, which eventually turns into a play pin, and we love it! Our baby girl slept in that the first three months of her life!
We do own the same video monitor and have NO problems with it...it has been a life saver...you can actually hear (and see) the baby breathing! It is an amazing piece that we could not live without. We have a two story home and a baby with a soft cry...enough said! I would say it is a worthwhile investment. Best of all, the camera can be moved easily and you will be able to use it when he gets older to see what he is up to in his play room.
Best of luck to you!!!!
Thanks for your reply on my page...and all I can say is keep the box to everything because Babiesrus will take it back if its in the box (without a receipt) so keep your boxes...i ended up exchanging things 3 and 4 months after the baby because you dont use everything from the shower right off the bat. Oh and monitor I had a 29.99 one but the 1st 2 months she slept in her bassinet next to our bed so I would just lean up and check on her. I put her in her crib when she was 2months and 2 weeks because she was scooting to the top of the bassinet and it was waking her up (too cramped i guess) anyway her room was right next to ours and i would let her cry for a couple minutes and if she didnt go back to sleep i would go see if something was wrong but at 8wks she started sleeping 7 hours so really she never woke up in the night. i think it depends on where the baby sleeps if you want the video monitor or one that just does sound. and on your pack and play i would just make sure its easy to set up and light (if you will be moving it around or taking it to places)
We have been using the Chicco pack n' play for over a year now and we love it. We mostly use ours for trips and for when friends with little ones need to put their kids to sleep at our house. I really like the night light/music feature (and that it's detachable) and my 14 month old son can now turn it on by himself if he wants to. When the pack n' play is up it doesn't fit through our doorways, but since we don't move it from room to room this wasn't a problem for us.
