Seeking Advice on "Holiday Bonus" Pay

Give what you can, but not more than you can afford. This is a tough year for everyone. Last year we gave the "lead teacher" the equivalent of one week's tuition and the aides each $50 in cash. This year, we are literally cutting that in half b/c we need to.

Remember that they do get paid and that your holiday "bonus" is really just a thank you! If you can afford to give some extra cash, then a nice card with an appropriate amount would undoubtedly be appreciated. If you are watching your budget, offer to buy them lunch one day. Bring in a few take-out menus and take their "order" and then have it delivered. Just make sure that you let them know ahead of time so they don't pack their lunch.

what can you afford... if it's not money.. maybe a small gift card for her to get her nails done.. or her hair.. maybe just a small gift card to eat out.. My cousin runs a day care like this.. and she gets gifts from $10. up to $100. she knows people don't have a ton of money.. but she appreciates anything she gets.. it's from the heart.. she has also gotten a bouquet of flowers from some.. and she is happy... with whatever.. write a note from your heart.. tell them that they do great work.. and your child loves them.. and you are happy to know that your child is well cared for.. and then figure out a small gift to say thank you..

I would do a catered breakfast (bagel, muffins, etc) or a catered lunch. This way you can show you appreciation to all without having to give separate gifts. Happy Holidays!!!

I would give one weeks tuition worth. This is customary. I would find other places to cut back and would not skimp here, as other posters have recommended, given she is caring for your child.

As I childcare provider myself, I say give at least 25% of your weekly regular pay. I just received 50% with a heartfelt note and the money did feel secondary which is how I think it should be. It actually did feel like a bonus - know what I mean?

I say 25% and not 50% since you started in September. Also, don't forget that you're probably not going to pay for full weeks over the next 2 weeks and maybe they'll be some savings there.
