HI J.!
Have you tried Wells, Maine?I have stayed with friends and of course cannot remember the name-I do know that it was less than mile down the road from the Maine Diner and the other direction is Wells Beach-it's a great area, we go every year with our kids.Check it out I've seen a few in that area.

Hi J.

We are new campers; having bought a pop-up two years ago. We have not tried too many different campgrounds but we have gone to MooseHillock campground in Warren NH the last two years. Essentially my children live for the pool and they have a great pool. The pool has a sunken pirate ship theme with two water slides. The sites are very clean and spacious and there are enough activities to keep the kids busy. The one drawback I found is that it is somewhat isolated from area attractions. The Polar Caves are within about 30 minutes and that was a great day trip. Woodstock is relatively close but is a mountainous drive about 45 minutes. Woodstock has numerous stores and restaurants and we had a great time on the natural water slides right in town. Clarks Trading Post is right next to Woodstock and that is a great day trip. There is also the Hobo train which we have not tried but looks like fun. Santa's Village and Story Land are longer drives but still doable. We drove the Kancamangus Highway to Story Land and enjoyed the scenic views. We packed a picnic lunch to eat on the way which the kids loved. We arrived at Story Land around 2PM when everyone else was hot, tired and leaving. We were able to ride most of the major attractions with no wait and left at 6PM when they closed still feeling quite fresh. We stopped for dinner on the way home and it was a great day! The best part? because we had arrived late we received a free pass to use the same season and we went back later in the week. We did the same thing arriving late and were not stressed at all. In fact, the kids were able to eat a leisurely breakfast, go for a swim and then enjoy the ride. Best Wishes and Happy Camping!

Hi J.,
We go to Acres of Wildlife every year. It is located in Steep Falls Maine, off the Portland Jetport exit. I am not sure if that is to far for you, but it is a wonderful campground. You can check out their website. www.acresofwildlife.com

Good luck and enjoy your camping adventure!
