This is completely different from what the other moms have said but that's ok. Somebody asked if an outtie was really that bad? Well, maybe not right now but when he gets older it could embarass him if it still sticks out. My belly button stuck out when I was little too and my mom left it for a while but when it didn't look like it was going to go back in she taped a quarter over it. Back then I guess it wasn't as common as it is now to have an outtie but if you want to get rid of it you could try that. I know it sounds funny but my belly button isn't popping out..... thank goodness. haha!

Hi M.,

As this may seem crazy, as the other lady replied. The quarter trick did work for my son. I'm usually not a strong believer of home remedies but this work for me. My son at the time had problems with colic and would cry all the time. It seemed as though every time he cried it could cause him to strain his stomach muscles causing his belly button to become an outie. I was told to place a piece a gauze on belly button and then apply a quarter (so that the quater isn't directly on skin contact). Many people stated using a bandaid to keep in place but it just didnt work. I used a wrist band (found at your local pharmacy) and wrap it around twice and that seemed to work a lot better. If you feel confortable doing this, try it. It doesnt harm the babt any anyway.

LOL .. he may just have an outtie! :-) There's no control over that ... when I was little I always thought it was up to how the doctor cut the cord! LOL I said, "I'll make sure my Dr. does it the 'right' way". :-)

Anyway .... my first child has a deep innie button, and my other 2 ... both have outtie buttons. So, don't mess with it ... it'll do what it's supposed to .. he may just be blessed with an outtie button!!! :-)

My son was the same way. He is now six months old and his little belly button looks totally normal. But in the early weeks, it really did stick out pretty good. Give it time, I'll bet it will go in on its own.

Hi M.,
Well my youngest was the same. In time it just went in on it's own. I didn't do anything to encourage it. Maybe some of the other moms might have a different story. :)

My DD had an outey when she was born...the doctor said she had a herniea around the belly button but not to fear she wouldnt be stuck with an outey that it will go in on its own over time.

By the time the cord fell off a few weeks later the outey bacame a normal looking belly button!

Just be patient!

You don't do anything but wait. If it is supposed to go in it will and if it isn't it won't. Generally when they grow a bit bigger and get more room in their midsection, they go in.

It is a God thing so just pray over it and see what happens. Outties are that bad, are they? Innies tend to get dirt and stuff in them anyway...yes, both my kids have innies and I have to clean them well after a good outside day :0)

God bless!
