S.D.
We went the past two years and my kids LOVED it!! Not dirty, smelly, or rude people! We went at the end of May and it was perfect timing as schools hadn't let out yet. If you are staying in the area try the Please Touch museum in Philly!
Hello, fellow mommies! My family and I are making a trip out there before the summer is up. Any helpful advice on where to stay, eat, or do would greatly be welcome. It will be our first trip there with our toddlers. We plan to stay at least two days. Thanks a million! God bless!!
Thanks to the helpful and sage moms out there, we went with Dutch Wonderland in Lancaster, PA instead. The tickets were cheaper than at Sesame Place and kids under 3 are free. The family and I had a super-duper time out there. There were so many rides that my toddlers could ride on their own. I had no idea my kids were that fearless! The lines were tolerable enough. I've seen much worse at Six Flags and Kings Dominion. There was even a small waterpark for both older and younger kids there. We did that at the end of the day to wrap things up. Don't forget to bring your own sunblock since they charge $15(!!) for a spray can at a booth, which we did not buy. There are tons of hotels along the highway near the park. Some hotels were dumps and some were nice. We stayed five minutes away from the park. Do your research beforehand! Can't wait till next year's trip!!

Hi! We have been there twice. Once when my son was three and once when he was five. We had a great time both visits. The last visit we stayed at the Residence Inn. It was probably about 2 miles away, and they have a shuttle service to/from the hotel so you don't have to pay to park at Sesame Place. The hotel also had a pool, so we enjoyed that as well. Definitely bring swimsuits. I would say half the park is water related, and there are some small pools for toddlers to play in. We didn't do the character meal, but upon entrance to the park, you can buy a meal pack that definitely saves money. As far as eating outside the park, there are lots of restaurants surrounding it (Ruby Tuesdays, Bertucci's, etc.). Hope you have a great time!
I have to agree with Judy. I have not heard great things about Sesame Place and we only went once as kids because my parents said the park was actually not really geared toward small ones at all!
Dutch Wonderland, Hershey Park, and Dorney Park would be much better choices. Dutch Wonderland is by far my favorite for kids 10 and under!
I've never been to Sesame Place so I can't say anything about that. But, I wanted to mention that I took my girls to Hershey Park when they were 3 and 5 - it was fabulous!! VERY clean - reminded me of Disney World in someways (very unlike Six Flags and some of those other gross amusement parks) Just thought I'd toss that idea out there while you're researching. Have fun wherever you decide to go :)
We've been several times and love the place!! My biggest suggestion is to schedule breakfast with the characters on the 2nd day.
Our very first visit, we also stayed 2 days and stayed at the Days Inn (don't stay there - dirty!). The first day the boys loved it but didn't want to get too close to anything in fur! And trust me, the characters are everywhere.
We prescheduled Breakfast with the characters for the 2nd day and when we arrived early at the park, we couldn't pry the boys off them! Day 1 allowed them to get used to being around them, Day 2 allowed them to totally join in and have a blast eatin breakfast with them. Oh, and we did breakfast instead of lunch or dinner since we didn't know how long the boys would be able to last in the heat and all. So at breakfast they were fresh and really had a blast.
Bring an umbrella if you can. They have a fantastic parade every afternoon, but there is little shade along the concourse, so the 2nd time we went, I brought an umbrella and was very grateful for the little bit of shade for all of us.
Bring your camera because you will have lots and lots and lots of photo opportunities.
They do have strollers there but we brought our own since it provided loads of storage (since they have a water park there as well as dry rides) and all the other kid stuff we lug around!
Have fun, it's a really cool place.
Hello Mom,
We stayed at the Comfort Inn, there's not a whole lot to do out there, the one day to the park might just be enough. Also there's a on hands museum out there, we didn't have time to go. Also your near downtown Philly. One evening we order chinese food from the local restaurant near the hotel. We had it delivered and ate in the dining room of the hotel. Hope this help. Have fun.
You might want to do some searching on the web. I just looked into Sesame Place, as I am heading to the area this weekend. The reviews on the web are pretty terrible - dirty, rude kids and smelly water rides.
I decided against taking my daughter there after reading the reviews....there are a number of other parks in the area, depending on how far you wanted to wander.
Hershey Park and Dutch Wonderland (Lancaster, PA)
Dorney Park (Allentown, PA)
Great Adventure (Six Flags, I think)
Dorney Park and Dutch Wonderland are both good for kids.
