Does anyone have any ideas as to where to buy a wine barrell or wine crate? I checked craigslist and didn't find anything that could be shipped to me. Not sure where people get them.
My brother in law works at the Seagram's Crown Royal Distillery and he has gotten me whiskey barrels for the garden. Do you have a distillery near you?
Certain times of year, the Rahr brewery in Ft Worth sells the barrels they use for one of their beers. I think the used barrels go for $50. You may see if they have any left.
Do you have a Tractor Supply, Lowe's, Home Depot or such near you - they would likely have what you're looking for!

I went to home depot and got something that looks similar to a half wine barrel. I think they range from $20-$100 ( surprisingly, some bigger ones were less expensive). You can look online in the pot/planter section and select barrels.
I bought two wine barrels from a vineyard near Fredricksburg for $55 each, then converted them into rainwater barrels. I brought them back in my truck. I think shipping a barrel is cost-prohibitive. Home Depot and Lowes sells 1/3 barrels (the bottom/top sections).
Do you know how expensive they are? A whiskey barrel which is much smaller will cost you about 200 to 250 to your door. Wine barrels are big enough to fit a car in. I would think thousands.
Ahh, my husband has notified me I was thinking of a wine tank, though they look like a barrel.
He said if you want a half barrel just go to a garden shop.
