I called to reschedule my dd appointment with her pediatrician, Catherine Cook in Ogden Clinic. And they told me that they did not renew their contract with her and she left. They told me that Dr. Brown will take her patients if I would like. I really don't know him at all. I was wondering if anyone has this doctor or if they have any suggestions. I live in Ogden and don't want to drive too far I like local but If I must I will drive. So any suggestions will help make my decision. Thank You in advance!

What can I do next?

I absolutely LOVE Dr. Rose. His office is in the women and childrens center at Ogden Regional. He's easy to get in to see, and my kids think he's great. He occasionally closed his practice to new patients so he can provide better service to the patients that he has,so you might not be able to get in to him, but if you can, he's great.

I take my children to Dr. Carey Lloyd at Farr West Pediatrics and I have a lot of respect for him. He is thorough but conservative, especially when it come to prescriptions, and he is well-connected with lots of specialists and other doctors throughout Utah and at Primary Childre's in particular. I respect that he does not hesitate to refer. He always, always returns calls, either at lunchtime or at the end of his scheduled day. At appointments, he asks me lots of questions about my little kids to get an idea of what normal is, and I like that he recognizes that moms know what's typical for their own children. When my kids can talk, he talks to them very respectfully without being intimidating--he's pretty fun with a stethoscope and has lots of distraction techniques ready. Location-wise, he divides his time between Brigham City and Farr West, but I also live in Ogden and the Farr West clinic is simple to get to. It's right off the exit, and it's the same exit you take to get to Smith and Edwards, if you're familiar with that area. So maybe technically it's Farr West, but the drive feels like you're just going to North Ogden.
In Ogden proper, I have had good experiences with Dr. Anne Baranko at Ogden Pediatric Clinic (I think that's what it's called) on Harrison and about 40th Street. Maybe your girls would prefer seeing a woman. I think she is great--gentle and thorough--but she is hard to get appointments with (I haven't loved anyone else there for bedside manner or thoroughness) and I don't love the "vibe" at the clinic. It's decorated with lots of formula company logos and free samples, which is a turn-off to me. (I want my doctor to market health and nothing else.)
Both Lloyd and Baranko encourage vaccinations according to the American Acadmy of Pediatrics' suggested schedule, but Dr. Lloyd is comfortable with staggering and delaying shots if your child has few risk factors (breastfed, not in day care, etc.) and I appreciate that he can back up all his recommendations for anything with very current research and encourages me to look at data, too. He runs a very evidence-based (as opposed to protocol or tradition-based).
I recommend both of these doctors; I don't know of Dr. Brown. Keep us posted!

A.,

I really love the docs at the Pediatric Care of Ogden facility on Harrison Blvd... right next to where McKay-Dee hospital used to be.

If this Dr. Brown is the one I've had a few friends mention, I would seek elsewhere!!!!

Dr. Berry, Dr. Watts and Dr. Clawson are great. I used to see them when I was little. I'm only 29 (next month) so they aren't THAT old... ;) And I'm taking my newborn to their clinic now.

I like them because: They have separate waiting and check in rooms for sick and healthy patients!

Good luck on your search. I know how hard it is to find good help!!
