Hello,
I need help I am in need to do a diet, but every diet that I try I can not stick to it. I either get sick of the food or it is just really hard. I am a stay at home mom of 2 and I am home all day, so the kitchen is right there. I really want to do a diet, I have been getting really depressed about being over weight. After I had my daughter I lost the weight quickly and now after I had my son I can not seem to getthis weight off. I just seem to be gaining weight. Does anyone have any ideas? I will try anything. Does anyone know of any godd diet pills toooo.

Thanks,
J.

If you find something let me know!!! I just need to loose the last 10 pds, and I find it impossible!!!! I was so skinny before I had my daughter, everyone would always say, OMG you have the perfect body, and now I am like a size 4 to 6, but I am only 5ft tall, I know I am not considered over over weight, but I want my body back!!! Plus b/c I am so short everything shows. I can't understand how some women have kids and go right back!!! Why couldn't that be me!!! Good Luck, it is very very hard.

Hi J.,

I am in the same boat. If you get any good suggestions could you pass them along? Also, where are you from? I was thinking of starting a moms group where I live...or at least a couple of moms who could get together and exchange services...babysitting, recipes, crafts, etc. Let me know if you are near me and if you are interested.

Hi J. - I am a big fan of South Beach. The reason why I particularly liked it is because you can eat as much as you want of certain things so you never feel deprived. The first 2 weeks are a little tough because you are cutting out carbs and sugars (boo!) but you adjust surprisingly fast. The book has some good easy recipies in it and a "what to eat/what not to eat" guide that i copied and taped on the fridge.
Don't waste your $$ with diet pills - they DO NOT WORK. Once the weather gets warmer just start walking with the kids and do the SB and you will be all set! Be patient with yourself!

I did the Nutrisystem Diet after I had my son and I was amazed that it really worked! I lost 10lbs my first week and a total of 30lbs in only 7wks!!

They mainly focus on food portioning and drinking your 8 glasses of water a day. I didn't cheat once and the food is great (except the morning muffins and chocolate pudding).

I'm pregnant with baby #3 now but will be doing this diet again after she's born. Good luck with whatever diet you choose!

I am also a fan of weight watchers. It is all about chaning your eating habits and making it a lifestyle. It will be good for not only you, but your whole family. You can eat normal foods and cook the same meals for everyone in the family just in a healthier way. Also, using portion control to eat what is truly a portion. I think the biggest problem in todays society is what we "think" a portion of food is! Good luck in your weight loss.

Hello J., I am sorry to tell you that "diets" don't work. The only way to permanently lose weight is get this "eat less or at least healthier and move more" I know...it sucks. I started a journal way back in '04 and wrote my goal to lose 35lbs by valentines day (it was October so I gave myself about 4 months) I started running and writing down what I ate every day. Well it took a lot longer than 4 months but I'm glad I did it anyway. I weigh less now than I did before I had my son! I owe it to hard work and dedication and also to THE BIGGEST LOSER online. There is no magic pill J., no secrets. It takes dedication and it's not over when you lose the weight because even harder than losing weight is keeping it off! You can do it though, you just have to want it bad enough. Best of luck to you! L. M.

Maybe one of the biggest problems is the word diet. I have been on a weight roller coaster for at least the past five years, and now its on a steady decline. You don't want to use the word diet, what you want to do is change your eating and exercise lifestyle permanently. This way you can ease into it and the transition is much easier. Step back and take a look at what you're eating and what you aren't eating. Are you eating often enough? Are you eating healthy foods? Instead of a "diet", I started changing things, I changed out the pastas that I was cooking to wheat or multigrain pasta, changed white rice to brown rice, white bread to wheat bread, drinking alot more water, there is a whole list of things, but like I said its a transition so you take your time with it. And don't just do it for you, change these things for everyone in your family, it makes it a lot easier. My son started out hating wheat bread, now he thinks the white bread tastes funny, and the pasta he never even knew I changed it until I told him.

The other side is exercise. The biggest thing is to make it a habit. You need to find something that you like, so you'll want to stick to it. If it's working out in a gym, then so be it. If it's working out to tapes at home, that's just as good too. I went through ALOT of different tapes/dvds before I found one that I liked and really wanted to do. I use a program called Turbo Jam which I really enjoy. Beachbody.com has quite a few different exercise programs that are all really good. I actually have a couple of them so I can change it up when I feel the need for a change.

It's a long journey to lose the weight, but remember you didn't gain it overnight, and you won't be able to lose it overnight either. A good support system, friends, family, others in the same boat is also an excellent help on your journey to healthy eating. Feel free to email me if any of this helped, I'd be more than happy to help be a support system. You can never have too many supporters.

I'm currently using slim fast and I have lost 1-2lbs over the last 3 weeks. they have a great website to keep you motivated and I have done minimal working out because my knee has been bothering me and I don't have much time to work out anyway. I sell tupperware so I got the shaker and I use the powder shake with skim milk it does't taste bad and if you want you can put it in the blender with a banana to make it more filling. Anyway check out the website and let me know if you have questions. oh and the other great thing is the only special food you buy is the shakes and they have snacks if you want, but other than that all you buy is regular healthy food. That is what is great!

I am currently doing weight watchers. You can either go to meetings in your community, or do it online. There isn't anything you can't have, that is why I love it. I have lost 30 pounds before when I went on it 2 years ago, before I had my second daughter, and I have currently lost 8 pounds the first few weeks I went back on it. I didn't even start excersising yet, either.

Hi J., I know how you are feeling- I had my first child 10 months ago and I am still trying to lose the weight. Only 10 more pounds togo! I have found a fantastic program that I follow on the computer. It has helped me lose 10 pounds since January 2nd, but the healthy way. I have changed my habbits so it is a system I can stick with. I am absolutely not starving and I feel great. The other component is exercise- I know it sounds like a dirty word but many things can be considered exercise and this program helps you realize that. Like carying a 16lb baby, vacuming, house work, etc. It also has helped me to get out of the house and get to the gym for an arobics class or go for a walk in the neiborhood with my husband and daughter. (on the good days)I also go to Lady Of America in the Marshals plaza in Cranston. It is $20 per month and the child care is free for one hour at a time. It is a great group of all women from all walks of life. I will include the link to take a tour as a guest. If you would like to get started email me and I will help you get set up. Good Luck!

I know this is probably a weird response but... I've always been an "emotional eater", when I was in my late 20's a Doctor put me on Wellbutrin to treat ADHD and depression. Well, any addiction that I had, eating for 1, went away. So I lost weight that way, also I exercised more. Spring is coming, so I can't wait to get out more. Walking with the baby around my neighborhood or a friends. During the winter I went to the mall and walked around sometimes.Diets are overated. The more you exercise, the more you will need to eat to keep your stamina up it just depends on WHAT you eat and how much of it. Well, it works for me, just a suggestion for you. Good luck.

One of my best friends lost over a hundred pounds now with Weight Watchers. Not only do you eat regular food, but you also get support which was very helpful to her. She also joined a gym and does yoga. I recently joined the gym with her and it is actually alot of fun! I am a stay at home mom and that is my "me" time to get out of the house for an hour a few times a week. It helpes to keep me motivated and not eat as much junk knowing all the hard work I put in at the gym. I have never heard anything good about diet pills. They are very risky. I wouldn't recommend them. Good luck and keep a positive attitude. You can do it!

The only true weight loss method is Exercise. The results do not show up immediatly but you have to set your mind to it and do it. If your kids are at home with you, I would suggest taking walks with them daily. Walking will make your stomach and thighs go first! You have to walk a little fast, so you might want to take a stroller. Or wait until your husband comes home and take one by yourself. (A great way to get rid of the stresses of the day and give an energy boost) Also, don't eat the food/snacks you buy for the kids & husband. Buy your own lowfat snacks. Good Luck!

Hey J.,

I can totally relate to what you are saying. My kids, however, are much older and the weight for me has never come off. I am trying to lose 104 pounds, talk about depressed! I have tried every diet there is - lost and then gained back. Now I am on a new kick - supplementation. I found this vitamin product on the internet to help with feeling tired all the time. What I got from it, along with energy, is NO MORE sugar cravings which means no more sweets!!! Also, I get full way quicker than ever before in my whole life. This is an amazing product. It has vitamins, minerals, mangosteen, aloe vera and decaf green tea. For me, it has changed my life. I have lost 32 pounds since November. I eat when I am hungry. I eat turkey and cheese sandwiches almost every day for lunch. I eat lasagna when I want to. The key for me is in the portions. So it is not like a diet, it is a lilfestyle change and as we all know, this is the key to success for any long term success in dieting. Send me a message back and I can get you more info. I just cannot say enough about the wonders of this product!!!!!!!!!!! Give it a try!!!!!!

It sounds like to me you want a quick fix that doesn't take much time, either that a simple way of losing it.

If the weight is caused by pregnancy, than it took 9 months to gain, and might take 9 months to lose. Diet pills are not a good idea because they can cause serious damage, like damage to your heart, because of the ingredients they put it in to "raise your metabolism".

I too tried pills, crash diets and everything else, but the best advice I can give you is the advice I learned the hard way. Be more interactive and eat healthy. No need for a salad with no dressing every day; that would be boring. Instead go for the little things that make a huge difference. Try eating chicken burgers once in a while to replace hamburgers. Put lettuce and tomatoes on top of your sandwiches for that extra fullness, this way you are not tempted to snack after a meal.

Also, play with you children more. Go outside and pull them on the sled, make snow men (or attempt to!). Or even chase them around the house, like a big monster! Or even dance with your daughter! I am sure she would love that!

Please do not get depressed if your weight loss isn't as quick as you would like it to be. It took a while to gain it, it will take a while to lose it!

Good luck!

Here are two great sites. First is the Discovery Channels national body challenge, You can do this for 8 weeks, the recipes are great and you can pick your meals for the week and just have to shop once for the week. It works great, and adds your calories up for you etc.
http://health.discovery.com/national-body-challenge/index...

Sparkpeople is a great site also, you can enter everything you eat for the day and it will add your calories, fat, etc, this will keep you accountable which really seems to help if you actually get to see in writing the calories that you are taking in. Its very motivating.

Hi...I'm a mom of 3..5 yo boy, 4 yo girl and 10 mo old girl. I put on 60 lbs with my last child and have been working on getting rid of that weight. Bottom line is cut down portions and try to stay active. That's what I've been doing and I have lost 50 lbs in the past 10 months. Well about 8 months. I didn't start dieting right after she was born. I don't exercise much except for taking my kids to the park and walking with them. Of course chasing 3 kids I consider part of an exercise routine. (typing this is probably my only time to sit for the day) Hope this helps...good luck

Unfortunately, there isn't one, nor an easy way to lose weight. The only way to lose weight and stay healthy is a lifestyle change. Dieting will help you lose the pounds for now, but when you reintroduce the eating habits you have now, you will gain the weight back. I have learned this from experience! Continuing to cycle on and off diets does more harm to your body than staying overweight and never dieting. That being said...if you research the glycemic index it can guide you in making smarter food choices. Many diabetics eat using this method, and we all know reducing UNHEALTHY carbs will get you on the right path. Another easier way is to shop smarter... if it's not in your house you can't eat it. I hope I've helped you!

I think that diet is not the word, you need to change the way you eat. I decieded to go on a "diet" but soon found out that i would just binge because i never got to eat anything good. So my husband and i went to the book store and looked through all the recipe books and found the better homes and gardens The New Dieters Cookbook. Thre recipes are delicious adn low in calories. Almost all of our meals come from that cookbook now. I also started to go to the gym 5-6 days a week and have been feeling great ever since. Or if i can't make it i do pilates at home, it is a really good all over body workout. I hope that you find what is best for you!

I wanted to let you know about a brand new program my company just rolled out with. It is weight loss program that has resulted in phenomenal results. 3 people, Dr. Mac, Caroline and the president of the company’s sister piloted the program as did several other people. With a 3 month period (June-August), Dr. Mac lost 37 pounds, Caroline lost 35 pounds and went from a size 14 to a size 4, and Lou’s sister, who was “morbidly obese” lost 90 pounds. The products were developed alongside a Harvard physician, who worked to properly calibrate every item to contain 15 grams of protein and 4 net carbs. It doesn’t matter if you drink a cup of hot chocolate, drink a shake or eat a bar or a bowl of soup, all contain the same amount of protein and carbs. The food is fantastic!!!! There is a limited opportunity to get these products now because it was rolled out early so there is a limited amount that is available. The next shipment won't be available til January.

You can also choose to become a part of the business and receive a discount on the food. The weight loss industry is a 50 billion dollar industry. And, over 75% of the people in our country is overweight, with 50 % of these people being obese.

I can be reached on my cell at ###-###-####.

By the way I am a mother of 3 children, 2 girls, one 4 and the other almost 8, and a foster son who is 9. I am real estate broker and my husband works in technology. We live in Salem, MA where we have been for the past 4.5 years.

HI J.,

My husband was a professional fighter for 6 years and he put me on a fantastic diet. It's really hard but if you are dedicated I promise it works. You need to figure out what your calorie intake should be. If you are comfortable telling him your weight he would figure it out for you. Don't worry, he has done this for TONS of women, especially new moms, including me. I gained 55lbs with my daughhter and after a c-section I had the hardest time losing the weight. I lost it all with hubby's help. I am back down to pre-baby weight. So you need to think about what you are eating first of all. This is the bottom line, you need to burn more calories then you take it. Thats what losingf weight is all about. Not protein vs. carbs, not diet pills either. This is the way to do it. I was taking in 1200 calories a day and i lost the weight. I counted EVERYTHING I put in my mouth. I had a protein shake with soy milk in the morning, a banana for a snack, protein shake for lunch, another 100 calorie snack then a lean cuisine for dinner, oh and LOTS of water, nothing else but water. You think you would be starving but eating a couple hours apart and the protein shakes really curb your appitite. You need to be careful and make sure you are getting enough in to keep your energy leveel up and keep you healthy. I got a little weak a couple times in the beginning becasue it's sucha change in diet but it is safe. Take a multi-vitamin everyday and exercise...no matter what, exercise. Even if you need to wake up befor the kids for a 1/2 hour workout, do it. My husband showed me some great evxercies the pros used to get in shape fast and WOOOO they kicked my butt. They worked though. If you want some more help and more infor let us know. My husband has been doing this for 22 years and I have never seen a person disapointed. I have seem amazing results...I am one of them and believe me, for MONTHS I couldn't loss the weight until I told my usband..okay I am ready. Within 5 months all the weight was gone..hope this will help you and please e-mail me with an y questions.

Ok. This is the easiest and healthiest way to lose weight. Doesn't give you a whole lot of options...but trust me...it works! I lost 23 lbs in one month and still going strong. Cut out 3 things from your present diet. That's it. Only 3 things:
1. ALL DAIRY PRODUCTS
2. ALL SUGAR
3. ALL FATS/red meat
This means it leaves you with: eggbeaters for scrambled eggs...and nothing else in dairy. No butter, no cheese, not even fat free....it is the dairy that kills a metabolism. no yogurt. no egg products (pasta, cakes, cookies, breads, breading, etc.)

You can have rice instead of pasta.

NO SUGAR. Which you can figure out is pretty much all sweets. Have sugar free popscicles.

Have ONLY these fruits: Banana's, (unpeel and freeze in saran wrap. It's great. Better than icecream!) apples, strawberries, peaches and necatarines, plums and grapes. (NO watermelon or melons. They retain fluids)

Have these meats: (6oz , 1x day) chicken, tuna, fish, turkey. Once a week you can have pork. Once a week a baked potato. (Use butter spray or butter buds for flavor)

All the veges you want except NO PEAS NO CARROTS NO CORN. They are too starchy and turn to sugar.

No Fats, no butter, not even in cooking. Use butter sprays for flavor. OLIVIA butter spray is 0 cals and better than "I cant believe its not butter spray". Tastes awesome. No salad dressings, no oils, no fried foods. (use a lemon for salad dressing) Not sure of those Spritz dressings that are new. If they are 0 calories and have no oils it may be fine.

(by the way, turkey bacon is GREAt! BETTER THAN FATTY BACON.)

Hope this helps and happy weight loss!

J., I am not sure which diets you have tried, but here is my advice..... I also have weight issues, three years back I started Weight Watchers and lost about 40 pounds in 2 months. Then I got pregnant. My daughter is disabled and we have had a rough few years and I had put my health on the back burner. Now my girl is stable and it is time for me to get myself back together (I gained all my weight back and then some, I am heavier now than I have ever been). I did try WW a couple of times but couldn't stick with it. I have started WW one more time and am going to hypnotherapy for "back up". I know it sounds crazy but you have to have an open mind. The power of suggestion (through hypnosis) works wonders when coupled with a good diet and exercise program. Oh well, just a thought.

Hey J., My suggestion to you, is to not even really diet. I know that sounds crazy, but trust me, it works for me. Because, it's true the kitchen is right there all day, everyday. What I found works for me is to just limit the food on my plate. You know, if I sit down to dinner and everything is so delicious...I only put 1/2 of what I would normally eat on my plate. I really have noticed that just limiting your intake of foods that you love AND staying active will melt off pounds.

I swear by Weight Watchers. I am a very picky eater and I love to snack. Weight Watchers allows you to eat what you want, but be more sensible about it. Its worth a shot. It was the only thing that worked after i had my daughter.

I know this is an old request of yours, but wanted to let you know that Weight Watchers (on my own - couldn't afford to pay the weekly cost) worked for me. I lost 20 lbs. back then. Also, myfitnesspal.com is a free weight loss program that's online. I have a coworker/friend who has lost 38+ lbs, and she's tried every diet out there.

I also lost weight quickly after the first baby (daughter) because I rode my bicycle everywhere (only had 1 car) and she sat in the little baby seat in the back. I also couldn't get weight off with the second child (my son); but finally became motivated 17 yrs later when I tried WW just for fun. Admittedly, I've gained 10 lbs back (over the 1 1/2 yr because of the arthritis (sp?) in my hips, but have started WW to get motivated again). Also, try a weight loss/exercise program with a friend. That usually works to keep other motivated.

Hope this helps..... not every diet is for everyone.
Good Luck

no diets work, J. it's just the old one that everyone skirts around. The tired and true eating better and exersizing regularly. IT's the only way beside surgury to loose weight in the long run. Diets work for a little while but as soon as you come off them you gain all the weight back plus more.

Hi J.,

I have always followed Weight Wathcers. And works for me just stay in your point range and eat what you want. I think any diet really works if you syick to it. I like WW better then any that I have tried. becauce I still he foods I like. THe slower the weight comes off the longer it stays off. Good Luck! I know its a never ending battle.

I know what you mean! I am still nursing, so I am going to wait to start my dieting. However the diet that has really worked for me in the past was Suzanne Somers - Sommersizing. You don't have to give up too much, just change how you combine different foods and you can eat as much as you want! I can let you know more if you are interested, or you could get her book that explains it all. Best of luck...Please don't use pills! Try some green tea, that should curb your appetite.

Hello there,
I had my son almost 10 months ago. And i have just joined Weight Watchers and I love it! I eat what I want when I want and you just have to stick to your points. Or you can choose to do the core plan but flex worked out better for me and they have some really good recipies. It costs 12 a week to go to the meeting and weigh in. When I go to the meetings other people share what was a challenge for that week and other people that have lost a lot share thier secrets to their success. I leave the meeting feeling recharged and I feel like I can do this and everyone at the meeting is so encouraging and sweet and you make a lot of new friends that will help you through the process. I love it thought I would pass it on. Hope this helps!
