Seek HELP with Brtiax FRONTIER Booster/car Seat Combo

I love BRITAX and thought hands down their newest arrival would be just as easy to install as the ROUNDABOUT that my son has been using for the past 2 years. So, I ran out and bought it once they were available...and this weekend we TRIED and TRIED to figure out how to get in place securely in the center seat, but the Frontier is designed such that it is nearly impossible to get the seat belt around the back and be able to be tightened...in the harness mode. Needless to say, I am seeking some advise or assistance to find out if anyone has had this experience with the NEW Frontier car seat/booster seat combo. I am considering returning it...
One would think that convenience and ease of use would be built in -- based on the price tag of $279.00!

What can I do next?

Hi S.~

I too LOVE Britax, but I don't have this model. If somebody on this board isn't able to help you with some quick advice, I'd suggest bringing it to the fire department. They can get it in there so it won't move and maybe show you how they did it.

It's a good idea to take it to them anytime you get a new seat anyway.

Good luck!

S.,

We love our Britax Boulevard - and the Frontier looks great too! Here is a link to instructions from the Britax site - seems you aren't the only one with installation issues:

Hope this helps!

If you are having trouble putting in your car seat you can go to any CHP substation and they will help you and let you know if your seat isnt right for your car. Good luck

Hey S.-
You can also call your local police station and they have a technician specially trained to help show you and install it for you...I know that Dublin PD has them and most PD's will. (Just in case there isn't a CHP near you).

Hi,
I am not sure if you've already had this suggestion ...but I would have GOORE'S install it for you I think it costs about $15-$20 bucks (free if you bought the carseat there). My husband and I are tall people and just don't fit well enough in the back of our car to get the belt tight enough. We have had all of our seats installed there. The staff is highly trained and extremely helpful. Good luck!

HI. Not sure about the carseat but I too love Britax. I would find out in the store you bought it from offers install services. If not I would call Britax Customer Service on Tuesday (propably closed for Monday's Holiday) and talk to them. They are very helpful.

CHP also offers services, they have trained install technicians as well as some police department, in general fire departments are not trained.

S.,

Go to CHP and get someone to help you install it- they will do a safety check for free and help make sure its in properly.

you can also try some of the car safety bulletin boards like http://boards.babycenter.com/n/pfx/forum.aspx?webtag=bcus... and http://www.car-seat.org/ . Both boards are frequented by many certified Child-Passenger Safety Techs.

And if that doesn't work, maybe check out the Graco Nautilus - has a similar harness height limit and a 65 lb weight limit and from what I've read on the bulletin boards it sounds easier to install

You could contact Britax for suggestions. Seatcheck.org is a way to find folks certified to help parents put car seats in the car. Often AAA does carseat check ups. If you need an extension for your car seatbelt, many dealerships will give you a seatbelt extender. I have a large friend who is too big for my Volvo seatbelt. I contacted the dealer & he is ordering one for me. When I asked about the price, I was told that it is free to me because it is a safety issue.

Hi S.,

Try calling the CHP office. Once a week they set up appointments to install car seats. We took both of our cars over and they showed my husband exactly how to install and balance the car seat correctly in the car.

I think your local CHP office has information on the proper installation of car seats. Check with them.
