L.,

I am so sorry for your loss. Give your body time to heal at least 6-8 weeks to fully heal. If you at any point start feeling ill, go see your obgyn doctor so they can evaluate you and make sure nothing is left inside. You won't see your cycle for a little bit because of the miscarriage. Are you trying to get pregnant? If you are, wait a bit til your body heals and then start trying when you feel ready. GL

my prayers go out to you on this time of need. I truely think you should allow your body to heal and grieve so you can be healthy for the next go around trying for a child. I don't know how long it takes, maybe others will but I would think a few months is good prior to having unprotected sex. I would see a dr to make sure all that needs to be cleared up in your body has . Sometimes a dnc is necessary to prevent infection. maybe look into a dr.

Hi L.,

I'm really sorry about your miscarriage. It's hard to accept this, I understand, but truly, your body is doing what it needs to do, most of the time, by spontaneously aborting a fetus. (That's what a miscarriage is, by the way - a spontaneous abortion.) What it usually means is that something was very wrong with the fetus or it had already died. The body expels it so that YOU don't get an infection and die. Sometimes it doesn't come out like it's supposed to and the doctor has to do it for you (a D&C) so that you don't get an infection and so that you can conceive later.

RIght now it's important to give your body a break and let it heal after the miscarriage. You should be using birth control. You should talk to the doctor and ask for tests to see if you are healthy. Ask the doctor how long to wait before trying to get pregnant again. You should take pregnancy vitamins NOW to help your fetus be as healthy as possible before you even know you are pregnant. Pregnancy vitamins have folic acid in them. Folic acid helps prevent neural tube defects like spina bifida. That's really important.

I don't think you are pregnant, but you may need to take a pregnancy test in a few weeks to confirm until you get your period. Meanwhile, no unprotected sex until the doctor clears it.

Good luck,
Dawn

L., I had 2 miscarriage last year (one at 9 1/2 wks & one at 11 wks) so I know what your going through. Both times I had to have a D&C afterwards as the baby died and my body did not take care of things naturally. Every case is different, but my doctor told me to wait atleast 2 wks after surgery to start having sex as I could try again as soon as I was emotionally ready. Usually you won't ovulate until 2-4 wks after your miscarriage, which would put your cycle 4-6 wks out, so I doubt you are pregnant. If you haven't been to the Dr. please go & make sure that your body has taken care of everything, b/c if not that will prevent you from getting pregnant if you are trying. I'm not an expert on this subject but 2 losses within 7 months of each other and I got a lot of info from the Dr. Oh & if you are trying to get pregnant...even after 2 losses I was finally able to stay pregnant and am expecting a healthy baby girl in 3 months, so stay positive:)
