Hey everyone! I wanted to see if anyone has used one of those childproofing services to come and outfit their home with everything that needs to be done. I have seen a couple on the internet but weren't sure if they were good or not. Any suggestions that you have would be really helpful! Thanks!
I got a referral from my pediatrician and used Dr. Baby Proofer. They have been in business for over 20 years. I used them when I had my first child 8 years ago, and then used them again when I had another baby when we moved into our new house. They give you a written estimate and you can choose what you want to do or have installed. Hope this helps!
I also used Jack with InfantHouse. He came out and gave me my estimate but it was a little too high for me. I loved that he worked with me and basically sold me all the stuff I need at his discounted rate, and I had my dad come up and help me install it. I think the consult was about $50, but I am sure I ended up saving money even with that when I look at retail prices of the things he sold me. He can also give you good tips related to childproofing that you may not have thought of.

Infanthouse.com is a full-time baby proofing company and they are very professional, uniformed and insured. They will work with you on what your needs are, whether that is a little or a lot. The consultation was informative and did not make me feel like a stupid first time parent (even though I can be). We discussed everything from gates to toilets and determined what was best for me and my situation. They really are great!
I used Little Bird Babyproofing and they did a great job. He saw things that were potentially dangerous that I would not have thought of. He also installed a latch lock on my laundry room so that the door opens enough for my cat to get in to her litter box but my son cannot get in.

We have been so very pleased with Rod Johnson with A Small World Babyproofing! We have had him out 3 or 4 times as our needs have changed with our growing children. We cannot say enough good things about him!
Rod really has a heart for children and their safety. He will come and do an estimate of your home, walking you through the potential dangers. He will sell you the items to install yourself or install them for you. We went this route-- we figured someone who does this professionally could do it in a fraction of the time we could-- and we did a lot. He has worked with us very closely and listened to our needs.
If cost is a factor, he has also produced a DVD you can watch yourself to learn how to do it all on your own. (I have not seen this.)
I don't know if Dr. Baby Proofer is around at all anymore. They originally came out to do our estimate. We had an appointment for them to come and install everything and they did not show up. We called and their response was, "Didn't we call you? Someone will call you soon." I started calling back a few days later and the phone just rang. My husband went by the store front and it was not open. I presume they went out of business. I wish they had been more honest with us. If they are back in business, I would not recommend them. We found Rod out of desperation, now knowing what we wanted/needed and not knowing how to go about it all ourselves.
His character & integrity is impecable. I would choose him over and over again!

Little Bird baby proofing is awesome! He also did the laundry door for us like the other post. You can't go wrong with using them.

There are several, I have known a few of the owners and seen thier work. The one I think is the best is Jack at www.Infanthouse.com He will do an estimate with a complete checklist first and then you can decide if you want to do any or all of it yourself. He really does first class work and has twins of his own so he really knows his stuff.
