Hello i am asking for info reguarding my section 8 housing.... I am currently renting a 3 bedroom apartment and i currently lost all income except for my sons disability.. I can not afford to pay the rent and other bills in the house, plus take care of my children and mysel.. The child care sysytem here were i live sucks. I need to already have a job in order to qualify for the program, the problem is i dont have no family or friends what so ever so im stuck like a duck. Child care expenses here runs from 200 to 450 a week so i cant even get a job. Botom line is i have spoken to my landlord and he has agreed to break the lease my lease... I was jusrt wondering if anyone knows what else i need to do or hat comes next. By the way I am moving back to ny where child care and everything else is easier for me and my children.... Anyone have any ideas on this situation? My cable and lights are going off if i cant get any help or get out of this expensive town im currently in... Thanks in advance!!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

Ok... I already have section 8 and far as the help with the food stamps... I already get those, on the other hand i am no longer elegible for cash assistance. The comment about applying for school, If i dont have child care i cant go to school or work... out here the child care is very difficult to get. The lights going out does matter because i still have to remain here till i find another place. the assistance here will only hlp with heating bills, in which i dont have, i only pay electricity... Nope they dont help with that either.. I thank everyone for your help on this... At lease the landlord has agreeded to break the lease. Ny is not that great but they do have plenty of opportunity also they have exceptional child care help!!!

Section 8 is difficult to get. there is a long waiting list and the rent is on a sliding scale according to your income. No income = No rent. Rather than blow that off, if you just dont like it here, why don't you try to transfer the voucher to where you want to go? Have you talked to the admistrator of the plan to see if they have any provisions for you to move without losing the help you already qualify for.
Have you tried signing up for school? There is ALOT of financial help for people that want to go to school. Go to school so that you can get out of the trap you are in right now. You have to learn a trade so that you can make more than your babysitter does. You could do medical coding, ultrasounds, phlebotomy, dental assisstnat, in a fairly short amount of time. anything in the medical field is great $ with great job security.

Try going to work at McDonalds, Burker King, Taco Bell, etc... All of those places, you should make enough money to pay for your section 8 housing. Just curious why you have cable and internet when your housing is being subsidized? Must be nice!

You should go down to the WIC office. Or the local worksource office. If you don't know where these are, look it up on the internet or talk to a nearby church. They can help you.

I don't know what specifically you're asking? You've arranged to break the lease and you're moving, thus it won't matter if they cut off utilities.

You can apply for assistance at your new location. I would think that you'd quality for emergency assistance which should include immediate tho probably temporary housing, food stamps, and cash. You can also check with charities to see how they can help.

If you call, TXU or Reliant will not cut off power. Please see the attached document from the state of Texas. Just like you talked to your landlord, talk to the power company. http://www.opc.state.tx.us/Documents/Summer%20Disconnect%...
You mention no daycare- no school. If you go to school, you will be eligible for whats called a PEL grant, which is a stipend that can help provide subsidized if not free childcare.

Because you have no income your part of section 8 that you pay should decrease if you let your worker know. As far as your bills...check out the LIHEAP program in your area. They help you pay your bills and if you have a 15 day notice they'll work with your local light or gas company so it can stay on until the payment goes through. Also, check with Salvation Army, sometimes they help you out. Good Luck.
