If you haven't already, I'd say join freecycle and post a Wanted ad. http://www.freecycle.org/aboutus
I just gave away a cool water/sand table as well as a child size table and two chairs on freecycle/silver spring.
Be prepared to clean them up. You may find this link helpful: http://www.likemerchantships.org/2006/11/cleaning-old-lit...

Same as others, esp. Craigslist. You can sign up with freecycle if your area has it too. I even put an ad in the local paper (pennysaver is free) asking for them. Soon there'll be more yard sales than you can imagine. Keep an eye out. You'll find them!

Hi,
you got GREAT asnwers. Freecycle.org, craigslist.com, there's a kid's consignment shop in Centreville called Kid to Kid, kidtokid.com (you can also sell items here and put the $$ onto your account to buy things etc), there's a great thrift store past FFX Hospital on Gallows Rd called Unique where I bought my daughter some outdoorsy chairs etc. To find out about the kids consignment sales comign up in the Northern VA/MD area visit www.our-kids.com and look up the DC Metro area, they have a section titled seasonal activities with a link to Spring consignment sales.
good luck

I second craigslist. I found a perfectly good turtle sandbox for my guys that, in store I would have paid 50 for and got it for 17. But again, also as mentioned, yard sales will start happening too. I never had much luck at concinment (sp??) shopes. I usually go there for clothes.

Check out the Dani's Duds sale - it's only held twice a year, in April and October. The sale is this weekend.

Here's their website for more information: http://www.danisduds.com/
It's HUGE! and it's out your way in Centreville - they hold it at the Dulles Expo Center off of Rt 28.

Try freecycle.org. People list things that they don't want any more and are willing to give away for FREE. It might take a while to find what you want and you have to have a yahoo account. But free is free, and it can also be a good way to get rid of stuff you don't want any more too.

Yard sales, consignment shops and my favorite: Craigslist!! I just scored a Red Radio Flyer Pathfinder Wagon for $30 (retails about $100) in great condition. You may have to drive a little bit, but totally worth it. Good luck!

Look for consignment stores in your area. I see you are in VA, so hardly seems worth mentioning, but we have a great store near us - Tried but True - Cockeysville, MD. Good luck! :)

Consignment sales are a real nice place to find large toys. Usually they are screened at drop off, so you only have good condition toys to select from. Check out http://www.consignmentsalequeen.com/2010/03/large-item-pr... for an idea of what you can expect to pay ;) Happy hunting!

The totswap happens at various fairgrounds twice a year. It'll start this week at the timonium fairgrounds. It's an easy and cheap way to get second hand kid clothes and supplies.
