I am currently pregnant with my second child, I will be having another c-section! Has anyone had their second (planned) section go worse than the first(also planned)? My first section was really easy, no pain, I was walking the next day, I went home on the second day, I just found it easy all the way around! I am afraid that the second one might not get as well! I am a little more worried because I am with a different doctor! Thanks for reading this! Take care everyone!

What can I do next?

Wow! I never had a c-section but man it sounds easier than my delivery. Almost 9 months have passed and I am still having intermittent pain from a bruised tailbone during delivery which could last for up to a year. I definitely wasn't walking the next day--I didn't want to move. I wanted to stay in the hospital longer and it was a month before I slept in my own bed because I couldn't get up without something substantial to push up on. I hope it goes well for you. I'm definitely having another child but I'm TERRIFIED of the next delivery.

I've had two c-sections as well. And my 2nd one was incredible. My first was an emergency...so the 2nd was just awesome! I was nervous about my 2nd one too because my first (even though emergency) went really well and I too recovered quickly. I'm sure your second will go just as smooth. The cool thing about the second time around too is you know what to expect and you can request to hold the baby & nurse asap in recovery instead of waiting until you get back to your room. Best of luck!

Hi, C.. I know you've already gotten a lot of responses and they all seemed very upbeat, but I felt I had to respond. My second Cesarean was very hard for me - much more than my first. The recovery was quite a bit easier, but the operation itself was traumatic for me - partly because of having a different doctor and having complications during labor. It probably will go perfectly well for you, but I think it would have helped me deal with the problems if I had even thought that there was a possibility that things wouldn't go as planned. Hopefully things will be smooth as butter, but do leave open the possibility in your mind that even if things are harder and don't go as planned, the important thing is that you and your baby are healthy! And be sure that you and your doctor are on the same page for expectations during the surgery and recovery. Each doctor has a different skill level and style and it will make a difference in recovery. Good luck and best wishes!

P.S. I just had my fourth Cesarean and all went beautifully!

Hi C.,

I had two c-sections and the second one was easier than the first. My c-sections were 25+ years ago and with all the advances in medicine since then lead me to believe that you will have the best care possible. Both c-sections were done by different doctors and I chose to have an epidural with the second one.

My advice is to enjoy your pregnancy. You might want to ask questions about a 2nd c-section with your new doctor. You have a definite advantage the second time around...you already know what to expect.

PS I am a scrapbooker too. And, I took a lot of pictures of my daughter during and after her pregnancy and made an small ABC's and 123's scrapbook that my grandson is thrilled to have and loves to share his memory book with others.

I've had 3 c-sections and the second 2 were easier than the 1st one. I knew what to expect even tho I had a different doctor as well. I had the staples out and went home a day sooner than my first one. As long as you are comfortable with your doctor then everything should be a snap.

The second is better than the 1st and the 3rd (in my case) is better than the 2nd! Don't worry as long as you trust the Dr. you have! Good luck with your 2nd child and God bless!

I had a second planned c-section after an emergency c-section with my first daughter. It was strange not going through labor the 2nd time, but I didn't have any more trouble recovering the 2nd time. I found both recoveries to be very easy with very little pain mediciation required. Good luck with yours! I'm sure everything will be great!

I had 2 c-sections 12 months apart. The first one was a emergency C-section because i wouldn't dialate further then 7cm and it wasn't planned. I never had a problem at all from that one. The 2nd one was planned for a specific date. Well she decided that she wanted out 2 weeks before that and put me in labor without dialation. I guess I passed out from the pain..they went ahead and took her out..healthy and stapled me up. I had problems with the area that was stapled. It got infected and had to go back to the Dr on a regular basis. Everything cleared up about a year after that. The only thing now is there is one spot that hurts if it is touched. Everything else worked out fine. Would i do it again? Most likely yes.
You will be fine. If you have worries the best thing to do is voice it to your Dr. Trust me he will understand. I hade the same Dr for both and I voiced everything to him =) lol
