My children have birthdays that are almost exactly 1 month apart and every year so far i have done individual parties for each of them. This year I am considering skipping the party and taking them to SeaWord instead, opinions? My youngest will be 3 in July and my oldest will be 4 in August. I am a single mom so this will just be me and them. How difficult will a trip like this be, I have not been there since I was a kid but I remember LOVING it. Is this even an appropriate trip for such young kids (obviously to small for any of the rides)? Any advise you have on this would be great.

What can I do next?

iI agree your kids will love it, but I would either go in May early
June or wait till September and make it a long weekend. Sea World San Antonio has a special buy a ticket get in free for the rest of the year so don't feel you have to cram it all into one day. You could do the water park on one day and see the rest the other day.

Since your kids are not in school, then I would definitely take advantage of the opportunity to go in September, rather than the summer. It is still plenty warm in September to swim, but much less crowded. At that young age, they will not know the difference whether it is actually their birthday or not. Definitely get the two-day pass. There is plenty to see and you don't want to try to do it all in one day.

Seaworld would be great if you went in the fall but summer is brutal. We went in July 2 years ago and it was he__ with the heat. Late September is great or now but I would wait.

Oh my gosh... I would not do it in August... too freaking HOT!

We took my boys to Sea World around those ages, they had fun, but were pretty cranky from it being such a long and hot day, and from driving a few hours, and I also had my husband's help with them. It's true, they can't ride a lot of rides and the little splash pad area... they only get 7 minutes in there!

I think it's a wonderful idea, we love Sea World, especially if your kids are pretty good at staying with you and such... but I would wait maybe 2-3 years or so, and go in early Spring or later Fall :)

I would never take a week one anywhere NEAR water in July in Texas (or late June or August for that matter).

We took my wee one in Early June last year. He'd just turned 4. The water park was fabulous but I had to DOUSE him in spf 500 in order for him to stay in the water and by the time we left, my legs were chaffed (think wet bathing suit, shorts, fat thighs and the heat), my arms were sore from the burn and I nearly passed out trying to get back to my car.

There's not enough water in Sea World to ever make me go again in the summer. LOL

Go in May or in September. Theyll LOVE it. And you will love it too.

Sending good thoughts your way.

I think your kids will love it and do fine. I took mine when they were 5 and almost 3. I would recommend getting the 2 day pass. I think it is the same price as one day. I would also look into going before your youngest turned 3. 2 and under gets in free.

I'm a single mom and took my kids this past July. But, my kids were 8 and 3. Sea World doesn't open until 10, I think (kind of late). So, we would get there first thing and then stay until about 1PM. Then, we went back to the hotel where the youngest and I took a nap. The older one played on his nintendo while we napped. Then, in the afternoon we would play at the hotel pool and then by the evening, we would go back to Sea World for a little while.

It's hard at that age because of the naps, but we took it easy. However, at the time that we went, the pass to get you into Sea World also got you into the water park. NOW, that has changed. You have to pay separately for the water park and sea world. You may really want to look into how much that will cost you because we actually went to the water park two mornings and then did Sea World in the evening - all on the same pass.

The other advice I can give you - we had some kind of pass. I don't remember what kind. But, when we arrived in San Antonio, it was about 4PM. We decided to go on over to Sea World and we went in the gates through the turnstile. There was absolutely no lines. Well, what no one told me (not even the agents there) is that to get in the next day, you have to register the passes at a window agent. We could have easily have done that at the window the evening we arrived (no lines). But, the next day when we went, we waited in the lines to go through the turnstile, which was a NO GO and the turnstile person directed us to the window - where we had to wait in line all over again. We were probably in lines for over an hour that morning. Miserable!

Also, I rented a stroller from Sea World so that I would not have to mess with carrying a stroller around. I highly recommend this. I also took a colored laminated sheet and ziptied it to my stroller so that my Sea World stroller was easily identifiable from ALL the strollers that were parked outside of the shows.

Good luck!
L.
