St. Anthony's in Tigard has been great for my son. They bring their own snacks & the teachers are wonderful.
I'm looking for a great preschool in Tigard or Beaverton. I want to find one who will serve the kids healthy organic snacks or have you bring your own snack. Every preschool I have looked into serve goldfish, juice, animal crackers, etc... My daughter is sensitive to eating processed food. Her brother is autistic so we do not eat processed food in our home. When she goes to her preschool they feed her these things and she can not concentrate on her school work and becomes super tired and cranky. The teachers blame her attitude on her brother saying she learns bad things from him. I wish people would realize food has a big part in how kids behave. I don't want to exclude her from snack time because she will feel left out and begg for the other kids snacks even if she has a snack from home. She will say it is yuck and she wants what everyone has. Any recommendations would be wonderful! Thank you! G.
Thank you everyone for the wonderful recommendations! I will be calling and interviewing the schools that have been recommended. I will let you all know what happens.

What I did was, I got a statement on what food additives my son could not have (allergies). Then call 211 and get a listing of preschools in that area. Then interview the staff and the director. As then what food they will change and if they would change to fit your child's needs.
good luck
We drive from Sherwood to attend Gaarde Christian Preschool. It is on Gaarde road in Tigard. I am a public school teacher and I am happy with the education and social development it is providing my son. Each child brings his/her own snack each day and places the snack in his/her cubby for snack time. They encourage parents to send healthy snacks. The only problem might arise when families send junk to celebrate birthdays. This happens on a rare occasion and most often the junk comes home because my son chose to eat his grapes instead. Good Luck!
i am the fundraiser at metzger community preschool in tigard, near washington square, off of locust. this is my sons 3rd year here and he loves it. (3rd because his bday missed the cutoff for kindergarten by 2 days). we will be enrolling our daughter for this fall. teacher lajeana has been there i believe for almost 15 years and she is amazing. it is a co-op preschool and we do bring in snacks for the whole class on our "helping" days, but you are always more than welcome if necessary to bring in a snack that is more appropriate/needed for your own child. you can always call our registrar or come in and observe class. school is from 9-1130. it is m/w/f for the rockets class (4-5) and t/th for the stars class (3-4).
here is the link to our website too

you can also contact me directly if you have some questions.
I really love the Little Cottage Preschool, my son goes there and is really happy.
They just got certified as an eco-friendly school and serve healthy food.

We go to Creative Children's Center on 185th in Beaverton/Aloha. It is a parent Co-op school and is a wonderful and enriching place. Families bring snack about once a month and it is called mini-meal- the school tries to be organic as much as possible. My son has been there 2 years now and my daughter will join him next year, the teachers are great and I really enjoy having an active role in the class/school. The school website is: http://www.creativechildrenscenter.com/

My son is going to attend Gaarde Christian School on Gaarde on Bull Mt. They do not supply snacks, and ask that you bring snacks for your kids. I am really happy with the school and happy I can send whatever snacks I wish. They are quite full thought.
We go to a co-op in SW Portland that is very accommodating of kids special needs, so allergies and snacks can be tailored for kids. www.burlingamecooperativepreschool.org. You may find a school closer that will do the same. Here's a list of preschools in the area: www.readysetmom.com/childcare (search by the area). Then check out the Oregon Environmental Council list of eco-healthy childcare (which includes preschools); http://oeconline.org/kidshealth/ehcc/
Good luck!

Try Happy Hollows in Beaverton. They are eco-friendly and serve and grow organic foods. My son and I visited a few months ago. We really liked it, but he's not old enough to attend. They start at 30 months.
Here's a link to their site: http://www.happy-hollow.net/
Hope that helps! :-)
I'm sorry that they arnt listening to you. That isnt right of them.
Is there a way that your able to send your own snacks instead of having her eat theirs?
I'm not sure of any preschools that offer organic food for snacks. SOrry that I'm no help.
