Sea World Stroller for 6 Month Old and 4 Year Old?

I have a six month old and 4 year old and we are going to Sea World. I don't own a double stroller and saw that they have the side-by-side ones for rent at Sea World, but I am worries that it will not have enough support for the 6-moth old. Has anyone used this stroller? Is it worth it to buy a double stroller when my older son is already 4 yo? HELP!

What can I do next?

So What Happened?

We ended up taking our own infant stroller only and everything worked out great. The strollers that are for rent are indeed not appropriate for a six month old. Our four year old did get tired a few times especially in the afternoon and his dad carried him on his shoulders, but that worked out better than taking a second stroller. The park is not as big as Disneyland or Legoland...the distances are shorter. Thanks to everyone for the excellent advice!

I would not rent the stroller for the 6 month old, it's more of a cart than a stroller.

I've never been to sea world CA, but I live about 20 min from Sea World Orlando and I"m sure its the same stroller, it's low to the ground and just has an area scooped out for the kids to sit it. I would bring a single stroller for your baby and then if you needed to I would rent the single for for 4 year old and hopefully you will have someone with you to push the other stroller. The 4 year old will probably be to excited to sit most of the time anyway. There are also tons of show at sea world so he will be sitting during those anway and on all the rides and in the playplace he is not going to want to sit down he will want to walk around.

What do you do with both kids when you are at a shopping mall or other crowded place? I would use the same procedure that you use for those occasions, just talk to your 4 year old about holding your hand or holding on to the stroller so you can see him.

I would not go buy a double stroller just for this once! To expensive and not enough use, unless you can get one cheep on craigslist or somewhere like that.

If you have a good stroller you could get a buddy board, it is a board with wheels you hook to the back of the stroller so the older child can stand on it. We loved ours. You used to be able to get them online from target and amazon. We got ours at a store in the UK.

I don't think the doubles at sea world would be very comfortable for a 6 mo old especially if you think you'll be there all day and he might sleep. I have a couple ideas
1. could you borrow a double stroller for the day? I have a friend whose kids are pretty far apart but she's borrowed my double a couple times for disney and the zoo, no big deal
2. are you going alone? Do you have two singles? Sometimes when we are together dh and I will just take both singles and each of us push one
3. Sea World is not as much walking as Disneyland or someplace like that since you will be sitting down for all the shows so your 4 yo might be able to handle walking and if you had a front pack or backpack for the baby maybe you could just bring your single and use the front/back pack to hold baby if 4 yo needed a break.

I wouldn't buy one, I know there is a place in OC, that rents nice doubles, not sure where you are located but there are probably other places that would rent a nicer double if that's what you think you need. The one in oc is called oc travel tykes I think.
Have fun! My 3 yo LOVES Sea World!

Do not use it for the 6month old there's definitely no support for him/her. You should get a tandem stroller it's the sit and stand one. You can find them cheaper now at target or walmart or babies r us.

I would not buy a double stroller. They are such a pain! Will your 4 year old even sit in a stroller? My son who is almost 4 would probably look at me like I was crazy if I tried to put him in a stroller. If your son will sit in a stroller and you have another adult going with you, I would just get a $20 umbrella stroller for your 4 year old. Have fun!

OSHA Slaps SeaWorld with Willful Violation Following Death by Orca

* Aug 23, 2010

OSHA has cited SeaWorld of Florida LLC for three safety violations, including one classified as willful, following the death of an animal trainer in February. The total penalty is $75,000.

"SeaWorld recognized the inherent risk of allowing trainers to interact with potentially dangerous animals," said Cindy Coe, OSHA's regional administrator in Atlanta. "Nonetheless, it required its employees to work within the pool walls, on ledges and on shelves where they were subject to dangerous behavior by the animals.

On Feb. 24, a six-ton killer whale grabbed a trainer and pulled her under the water during what SeaWorld describes as a "relationship session," which was also observed by park guests. Video footage shows the killer whale repeatedly striking and thrashing the trainer, and pulling her under water even as she attempted to escape. The autopsy report describes the cause of death as drowning and traumatic injuries.

OSHA's investigation revealed that this animal was one of three killer whales involved in the death of an animal trainer in 1991 at Sea Land of the Pacific in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. SeaWorld had forbidden trainers from swimming with this whale because of his dangerous past behavior, but allowed trainers to interact with the whale, including touching him, while the trainers were lying on the pool edge in shallow water."

I would go to the San Diego Zoo and/or Legoland and/or the Birch Aquarium.

I know that isn't what you asked but maybe you didn't know about the above info.

Would it be possible to put a portable baby carrier inside the stroller to support the 6 mo old and still have room for the 4 yo? Then I'm assuming that a rental stroller wouldn't have seat belts, so you might have to bring a strap of some kind to secure the carrier to the stroller.
