Silly question, but...do you walk around in a bathing suit all day at sea world? We're going to the San Antonio one if that matters. I know there are areas where you can get soaked if you stand the right/wrong place, but in general, its not like a water park is it? Its going to be 105 degrees the day we're going - ugh!

any other tips? Going with our 5 year old, hubby and I, my mom, and hubby's sister.

thanks!

What can I do next?

Are you just going to Sea World, or are you also going to Sea World's Aquatica? If you are going to Aquaitca, then you need to wear a suit. It's a water park!!! If you are only visiting the Sea World part, then you don't really need to wear a suit.

The only place I got wet in San Antonio SW was on a log raft ride (people can stand along the side and shoot you with water guns, and there are a few splash spots and a waterfall.) I didn't see anyone in a bathing suit... Most of the rides were dry.

I would recommend wearing lightweight clothes that will dry quickly if you do get wet. Slacks and shorts, light t-shirt... Maybe roll up an extra outfit for each family member and put in a ziplock bag, so if you get wet and it is uncomfortable you can change. (Have an extra bag for wet clothes...)

Food and drinks are prettyexpensive, so a backpack with water bottles and snacks would be a good idea too. (You can use that to carry your clothes...)

And don't forget the sunscreen. ;)

No we wore regular clothes- never got a drop of water on us. The splash zone is clearly marked.

If it was going to be 105, I'd wear a swim suit and make sure to sit in the splash zone for every show.

We are going this weekend too. There is no way I would want to walk around in a swim suit all day. 105 in a clothing material that doesn't breathe. Ugh.

I have been before and I don't remember people walking around in suits. In the splash pad area some people wore swimsuits, but I think they changed out of them. I am not certain with Aquatica opening (the water park) if that area is even in the park still.

We will be taking a change of clothes and leaving them in the car just in case we need it. We are going to avoid getting soaked if possible. Because last time we went, we did get soaked by Shamu and we felt like we smelled like a giant fish all day.

You can bring bottled waters in the park. We are going to attempt to freeze some bottles to bring with us. Don't forget sunscreen and sunglasses! And plan your route...after an outdoor show hit an indoor exhibit to cool off. Have fun!

We just got back from there... There are all types of people wearing everything from bathing suits to clothes. So basically, whatever you are comfortable in. I personally would not wear a bathing suit all day. I had a tank on with some capri pants. My daughter was in a Under Armour shirt and shorts and my son (1 yr old) was in his rash guard and swim trunks. I let them play in the splash park area and get soaked. By the time we walked to the car after that, they were dry. It was HOT!

We probably will not be doing this vaca any time soon in the summer again. The locals have season passes and the place is full of scantly clad individuals with a little more hanging out than I wanted my children to see. Not pretty!

I haven't been to the Sea World in San Antonio, but I have been to the ones in San Diego and Orlando. Never got wet at either of them. At the whale and dolphin shows there are "splash zones" where the water will splash out of the tanks, but there is plenty of seating away from those areas and they are clearly marked. There was a "lazy river" type ride that you could get wet on, but I think you paid more for it and our kids were too young to go on it. In the Sesame Street area there is a kids' splash pad that our kids played in. There were changing areas, but our kids were young enough that we just changed them behind towels. We didn't get wet. In the amusement park area there might be some "wet" rides but we have always found that there was so much else to do that we never went to those areas. If you think you might want to do those it wouldn't hurt to have a change of clothes along, but I don't think you would need a swim suit. I would compare Sea World to a zoo or aquarium more than an amusement park and definitely not a water park.

I was at Sea World Orlando today! Nearly everyone was in a suit with a cover over it. My family wore regular clothes, no suits. We didn't do Aquatica and only got wet because it rained. :)

There is a water park, but it has another entrance and extra fee. Inside Sea World you do not necessary get wet, you could if you want! Inside Sea World there is a big Splash Pad, but you do not have to get wet if you only watch the kids from the sides.

Personally I do not like walking around just on bathing suit, Now I am overweight but didn't like it when I was skinny either. I would at least wear a cover up, a sun dress, or shorts. It will be hot! and it feels really bad if you do not cool down, so do plan to get "splashed" at any opportunity so bring your swim suite and top it with something and enjoy!

Have fun! we will be there in a couple of weeks too!

No you don't wear a swimsuit, but ... We just returned from the San Antonio Sea World with our 6-year-old daughter. I was surprised to see such a large splash area in the Sesame Street Bay of Play — we went there first, and I immediately regretted not dressing her in a swimsuit or bringing one! (There are dressing rooms in the immediate area for changing, so that's an option). There are also two very wet splash rides and splash zones during the shows.

You can save all the wet stuff for the end of the day, that's one option! Make sure you wear clothing that doesn't become see-through when wet. I learned that the hard way!

I wouldn't.
But I would wear clothing that was okay to get wet in. In other words, no white Tshirt. ;)

But, maybe choose some active wear type clothing. Supplex swim shorts and a sports bra and running top maybe? Or running/athletic quick dry shorts and tank? Stuff like that. But not an actual swimsuit.
