I love, love, love Lakeshore Learning: www.lakeshorelearning.com You can search by age and then under science to see what they have to offer. There is also a store off of the Tollway near the Galleria if you prefer that to online shopping.
My six year old daughter is very interested in science. She loves the subject at school and enjoys the small assignments she gets to bring home. Her favorite television show at the moment is a discovery channel program called Mythbusters, which debunks or proves commonly held myths and beliefs. So she's totally into finding out why and how.
For Christmas I'd like to get her some activities/toys that will let her explore some science related topics. Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

I love mythbusters! Great show.
I just got a Highlights Toys magazine in the mail yesterday & they have all kinds of science "toys". Here's a link to a website.

If you don't find anything here, do a google search for science and toys & I bet you'll find a lot. I know I've seen some of these things other places, I just can't remember exactly where at the moment. Also, Discovery Channel does have a website w/ toys. Here it is:

I like USA Toys in Plano at Parker and Independence. It's a teacher's and parent's store. They have a lot of science related games and toys and their prices are quite reasonable. It's also a great place to pick up small trinkets for reward systems or for birthday favors.
My 12 yr old is in the midst of science fair projects.
We got good info at 222.scienceprojects.com and www.onlinescience.com
I think you can also order some projects. I recall getting catalogs for the holidays last year that involved science projects and kits. It might have been Discovery.
Good luck!
