My 13 yr old daughter has been working on her prject since Sept.

Go to www.scienceproject.com They have ideas and strategies for all grade levels. You plug in your child's grade level and projects come up that are within that range.

Good luck!

Research on the internet. My second grader won best in show. First time for a second grader to ever win. We found ideas on the internet, narrowed it down to his interests. It was very important that he had a notebook with his notes it in. We taught him the theory and made sure he understood it. We prepared we were the teachers so he could do the report of us.

I really fun one is what sodas do to raw meat, try all different kinds, some will actually eat a whole in the meat, just like your stomach lining. LOL ewww.

Good luck!

I would recommend going to the library & checking out some books. There are also tons of sites on the internet to give you some ideas. Good Luck!

As a science teacher, I recommend that you go to the library or get on the internet and look at topics. More than that though, talk to your daughter about things that interest her. My daughter finally has been able to use the project she designed 3 years ago (no fair at the school she has been attending until this year) but it is based on her interests. Once you know what is her interest it will be easier to narrow down the tons of ideas that will be presented in the places you look. HTH!

I did this project when I was a kid..."Will a plant grow through a maze if light is its reward?" Basically we used a liquor box with the cardboard dividers. Put a plant in one corner, and cut holes in some of the dividers to make a maze, ending with a hole in the opposite corner for the light to come through. Water the plant normally, put it in a window with the hole facing the window to get optimal light. Let her measure it with a ruler (or use pieces of yarn once a week for a good visual, tape them to the presentation board labeled with "week 1" etc so the kids can see). Message me if you have specific questions. This one is simple and can be inexpensive. (I would highly recommend covering the outside of the liquor box with some kind of wrapping paper. hehe)
