HI M.,

I hope you are feeling better soon! have you considered acupuncture? i have heard that it is very effective in treating sciatica.

I really like Camille Vardy in Mt. View. or if you need to save money, you might try the acupuncture schools--there is one in san jose and one in sunnyvale. you can save alot of money and still get great relief!

Take care,

G.

Sciatica can be a nerve that is pinched at the spine or in the "deep six" buttocks muscles. Depending on the location, your doctor will prescribe different treatments. Facilitated stretch can make a big difference if the problem is pinching in the buttocks muscles. An anti-inflammatory drug can reduce the swelling and pain in the sciatic nerve. This nerve is HUGE and has its own blood supply and nervous system. With occupational therapy to supplement the physical therapy, you can learn ideal ways to stand, lift, move, sit, etc. that will minimize the problems with your sciatic nerve. In severe cases, especially with a pinched nerve at the spine, doctors will operate, but that's really a last resort. There are many other interventions that are less invasive. Your doctor will know what is best for you. Best wishes.

Hi M.,

I am a mother of 4, and have been through Sciatica problems 4 times over. The best thing that I found was my chiropractor, and massage. Because of all our hormonal changes and the changing in our pelvis for baby growth, our ligaments get really loose and this sets up the prime opportunity for our lower back and hips to slip in alignment. A slip in the sacrum (lower back) will almost always trigger that lovely sciatic nerve, it can't help it it's getting pushed around! Find a chiropractor you can trus, and let he or she take it from there!

Good luck!

A little about me:

I am a SAHM to 4 boys ages 9,6, and twins that are 4! I am married to a fine man, who happens to be m,y best frined of 15 years!

Get to a chiropractor now - I recommend Dr. Colleen Conger and Dr. Michael Brass in Campbell. ###-###-####.

Chiropractic is the only way to get at the root of the problem. Medications will only mask it and not heal it.

Good Luck.
