Would love to hear from people who have put on a successful bake sale at their child's school!

How much do you ask for the following items:

Cookies
Brownies
Cake slice
Bars
Etc.

Thanks for your advice!

I would say make everything $1. You can do cookies 2/$1 if they are small. It keeps the math simple and helps you earn a lot more money.
Discount for buying a bunch, like $4-5 for half a dozen cupcakes, or three brownies for $2.

25 or 50 cents for cookies/bars depending on size. We have also done plates with a half dozen for $1.50-2.00 and a dozen for $3.00 depending again on size. 50 for cupcakes and 1/2 dozen for $3.00. We always price things in 25 cent increments to make giving change easier. If things are priced too high you sell less. In the last hour, cut the prices (bogo) to get rid of everything.

Either $0.50 per bag or $1.00 per bag. We normally do $1.00 per bag and put two brownies or four cookies in for that price.

Sometimes people bring speciality items like cake pops or pretzel sticks, those are priced based on the look of them. If they are small cake pops, maybe $0.50, If they are bigger they may go for $1.00 each. It really just depends. But honestly, $1.00 each keeps things simple for the cashiers and the buyers.

Price to make $1 per sale, double up the items until it is somewhat worth it. Keep in mind, it is a fund-raiser.

If the kids only have .50, tell them to find a friend who also has .50 and they can share...okay now I am just being ornery.

If the bake-sale customers are going to be mostly children during the school day, the target price for individual servings should be 25¢ - 50¢. Multi-item bags/bundles $1-$2, whole pies or cakes can be more but kids won't usually buy those.

Depends upon your area. We live in a "wealthy" area. So when we have had bake sales, cakes are $5.00 and everything else was $1.00, yep, even cookies. Sounds expensive - but all the proceeds were going to the school so people gladly baked and donated....we had WHOLE cakes for sale. one of the mom's is/was a baker and made elaborate cakes - those were auctioned off - and some went for $50 to $100. Again - people realized all was going to the school so they spent generously.

If your area is not like that? I would suggest .25 cents for cookies and .50 cents for bigger items.

Good luck!
