Sarasota Memorial Hospital

I am delivering at Sarasota Memorial Hospital and I was just wondering if you can have the baby stay in the nursery the 1st night after you give birth if you are really tired and not feeling well. I delivered in NY the first time and you had the option of the baby staying in the nursery if you don't feel well at night so you can get some rest. I heard florida is different and they don't do that here.

What can I do next?

oh yeah, they stay in the nursery and they will bring the baby to you every couple of hours to feed. If they act hungry or fussy, they will bring them back to you as well. I had both of my babies there and had great experiences. The second was better because I had a private room, priceless! The food was also really good!

Sarasota Memorial is Great. They are very helpful and yes the baby can stay in the nursery if you need him to. It maybe a little easier for them if they are really busy but they usually accomidate you with what ever you need.

I had our daughter at SRQ in January. The medical staff is very happy to work with you and make your stay great. It is totaly up to you if you want the baby with you. Our daughter stayed with us and slept great while they where always in checking on me so not much sleep was had....but we just wanted to stare at our bundle of joy anyways.
The hospital offers tours - great way to ask all your questions and see everything. Enjoy your up coming blessing.

I delivered my 2nd child at Sarasota Mem in 2004. He was in the nursery the first night until feeding time, then they'd bring him in to me. It was MUCH needed rest and VERY helpful!
Best of luck to you!
