Sandbox in Korea

I have a crazy question, but does anyone know where I could get sand for my son's sandbox in Seoul? I have checked on-post and although they sell sandboxes, they do not sell sand. My son loves his sand table and has missed playing with it since we've moved here.

What can I do next?

I copied this from the Files Section of Yongsan Playgroups Yahoo Group. You should join if you aren't already a member.

Sand for Sandbox
Coming from Post down Itaewon turn right at the Itaewon Hotel and follow the road down the hill underneath the overpass. Keep on going straight passing the Thai Embassy (right) and the Sun-Chon-Hyang Hospital (left). After the hospital turn right at the second stop light (between Scarlet Restaurant and Dunkin Donuts). Go straight passing Buy-the-Way (right). Shortly after that you'll see a Car Center on the right hand side and next to that is a pile of sand on the sidewalk. On the left side is a Korean restaurant and a little further would come a police station. The office of the "sand shop" is set back to the left of the little drive way next to the sand. They bag the sand for you. One bag is W1,000.

Hi M.! I dont know where you can buy sand in seoul, but you might want to try rice! We live in germany and have cold winters like you do. My friend has a sand table and she would bring it inside during the winter and fill it with rice. The rice vacuums up very easily and she would color the rice with food coloring to make it more exciting. The kids loved it!

If sand is impossible to find, I would use rice. It could get spendy but depending on the size of the sand box, but it may be well worth it. Plus it is cleaner than sand and easy to sweep up. Good luck

Hello, do you have the ability to purchase or get sand bags? If so, why not buy a few sand bags and put them in his sand box.
