Do any of you fellow SAHM use SmartPhones? Before I stopped working, I was thinking of getting a PDA but never did. Now, since my boys (4 of them) are so active, I'm thinking about getting a SmartPhone because I can use it for many different things, namely I can use it with Outlook w/ the family schedule.

Any other busy and/or SAHMs use one? If so, what kind do you have?

What can I do next?

I LOVE my smartphone. Synce the calendar and phone book. Check my email and I even use internet on mine for those times when I'm just not sure what the address is. I got one with a big enough screen for eBooks. I love to read too. This way while I am waiting on all the activities to be over I can read a book. I always have it with me and I frequently forget my paperback at home. I even put Quicken mobile in mine so I can keep up with my spending. And Microsoft office. That way I can look at and work on all the PTA stuff without waiting to get home. Sorry couldn't live without mine as you can tell.

Tamara -
You sound like me! I said the same thing last year - mainly because I was tired of having to drive all the way back home to check email to verify "the next thing" because of people changing plans late in the day for evening, etc. We live north of DFW airport and seems like some days we are constantly on the move. I can't recommend it highly enough - I love the freedom that having a smartphone gives me. I got one that is discontinued (Cingular 3165) but am about to upgrade. I have always synched it with Outlook and it pulls in my Verizon email (on POP3), even though I am an AT&T cell customer.
I thought it was an expense I would have to justify, but really the gas prices did that for me - and the time savings are unbelievable. I feel untethered and free!!!
I'm glad you are enjoying being a SAHM this time - I love it too. (My kids are 14, 10, 8, and 4 - not too far off from yours, but Girl, Girl, Boy, Boy instead of all boys.)
Blessings!!!
S.

I have a blackberry and love it!!! I never thought I would need one, but now with two children it is a must. I use AT&T and they just started allowing you to insure them so that is a plus. I mainly us it for texting, and the calendar and now don't know what I ever did without it.

I have a Samsung BlackJack II on the AT&T network and really love it! Hubby gave it to me as a Valentine's gift. Easy to type/text with and call quality is great. I've dropped it several times with no adverse effects. I sync with Outlook and find the interface very easy (not like the old Palm or iPaq--YUK!). The camera quality is great at 2MP and the screen is nice and big, though a little difficult to see in full sunlight (at the park, etc). If you're going to listen to music on it, the speaker quality is not too good, but I don't use it for that (I have an iPod for music). I thought about an iPhone, but it is difficult to type on the touch screen while keeping an eye on my son, carrying a purse, etc. good luck with your choice!
