I'm buying a gate to go into my daughter's bedroom door, as we're moving her into a bed in the next couple weeks and I want to "gate" her door. I want it to be pressure mounted. I'm trying to decide between the Safety 1st Perfect Fit or The First Years Everywhere Gate (found both on Target website). Both are plastic with a translucent panel so she can't climb the gate.
My key question is how easy is the pressure mounted function? Is it fairly easy to put up and take down the gate each time I enter and exit her room? Does anyone have an opinion?
We just got a wooden one from Walmart, and since its only on her door at night, we've never had a problem.
i have the safety first gate with the clear sides it can be pressure mounted or one side attaches to the door frame and it swings like a door and i love it. i got it at babies r us and it was only 40 $.
We have the Perfect Fit. That one is actually made to go on flat wall on one side, uneven moulding on the other, such as near stairs at the bottom. It is pretty easy, but moving it every single time? I would go with a walk-through gate in that case. Good luck!
We decided against a gate due to fumbling in the dark. Instead, we close her door each night, and on the INSIDE doorknob is a child-resistant cover. She can't open her door yet, but we can:) That would also be a cheaper option for you!

With triplets we've used or researched plenty of gates, lol. We actually did not use the first one (Perfect Fit). We have had and still one of the Everywhere Gate, although they used a different name back then, something like the "clear view" or something. LOVE the Clear View (Everywhere) gate. We've had it mounted and pressure mounted. We use it on occasion with one of the boys, although he's extra large and just climbs over it now at age 5.5, lol. But it's more of a reminder than an actual deterant for him, to behave.
I suggest the Clear View (Everywhere) as it is strong, can easily be adjusted by lifting the two tabs to pull or push the panels, lock it, then adjust all four pegs by turning them. We have large kick panels along the floor so it's nice to adjust to fit so we don't have to raise it above those boards, and sometimes you get uneven walls or doorframes so it's nice to adjust. It easily lifts on and off but it FIRM in place once you lock it in. We just lean it up against the wall in the hall when it's not used.There is a loud clank when you lock it down. We bought it years ago when the triplets were babies and had a playroom. They could easily see through to see where Mom was, could lean on it and push and pull and still stay locked in place!
If you ever want one for the kitchen or hall that is more permanantly pressure mounted you can try the kitchen gate with the step pedal or the tall gate. The kitchen gate with pedal is nice when you're carrying food. The tall gate is less expensive and the extensions come with it, and taller for bigger kids. Both of those are great as well.

I had a wooden one ( i am not sure of the make) for my daughter that was actually supposed to be mounted at the top of the steps...we have weird steps so it didn't fit. But we mounted it to her room all we had to do was squeeze the handle lift up and swing it open like a door. My daughter never climbed over it. I just think the ones that just put pressure up against the door frame would be easily pushed over if enought force was applied to it.
I have the Safety First that is screwed into the bottom of the stair landing. It is opened by pressing a bitton on top and popping the seal then it swings open. I love it. We use ours to keep the dogs downstairs.
I got it at Walmart.
