Hello moms, i have been running for a while now (close to a year) and recently it has gotton to where when i run or not run my leggs are so sore, make a long story short.....my dr had me on testorone to get my hormone levels backup, i was on it for 6 months. Well that ended about 2 weeks ago and then i have to go in in two weeks for a blood test to see if my levels have risen. However ever since i have stopped the testerone about a week and a half, i have noticed that i have constance muscle soreness, i workout 5 days a week have for years , i do many cadio classes and never have i felt like this, i cant even up my weights like i usually do, do to the fact that my muscles feel like 2 pounds is 10...i dont understand what is going on and why all of a sudden :( i also have noticed that when i run more than over three miles i get sick, this has never happened before and i do many races, so now im a little concerned....i use to run 5-6 straight through now i dont dare go more than 3-4 and even then im not well the rest of the day...please if you have any ideas or have been through this my fellow runners i would love to fiqure this out! i have thought about going and having a blood work up done but that can take some time for the results...
Thanks again for all the help...

I'm a runner as well,
all I can say until you hear from your doc is take some motrin for the muscle pain, it's an anit inflammatory it will heal the muscles, also stretch really good after do a 5 min warm up before then stretch before but dont skip that 5 min warm up! you will injure yourself. As for running 3 -4 miles maybe pace yourself slower, though you've been doing it a long time who knows things change, practice expanding you lung capacity deep long breaths. especially when your sick oxygen naturally heals alot of things. good luck!

I would check with your doctor. To me it sounds like something linked to the testosterone you were taking. Your body could just be going through an adjustment period, or the testosterone could have been masking something else. Most doctors will welcome phone calls or a follow up appointment when their patient has unusual symptoms.

In addition to working with your doctor, have you considered working with a local company that specializes in running to see if they have any advice or have experienced this?

I've just taken running back up to train for a 1/2 marathon in a few weeks. It's harder than it was when I was 10 years younger, 25 lbs lighter and didn't have 2 kids.

We're working with a local company (Running Company) using their training program and getting their expert advice. They're essentially a store that sells running gear, but they have clubs, etc. I'd bet you could find something similar in your local area and work with them to see if they can help you through the issues.

I hope there is no serious underlying medical condition and this situation is quickly resolved.
Best wishes!

You might want to ask your doctor about fibromyalgia. My sister was diagnosed over 10 years ago and she started out almost like you sound now. She didn't run she was a weight lifter and an aerobics instructor and needless to say her career is over. I firmly believe if she had been diagnosed sooner she might still be able to do what she loved. I hope you find out what is going on. Good luck!

You need a nutritional workup- blood work doesn't show problems until they have been going on for a while, and to start w/ hormones- gosh they are tough to balance- Check with Wellness Possibilities and get a local referral.
best, k

Go to the doctor. I'm anemic and when my iron levels are low I can't run as long.
I'm 34 weeks pregnant and at about 30 weeks I had to stop running as far/long and I know it is discouraging. So get to the doctor and see what's up!
